To secure the release of a British citizen unfairly detained on false charges
Itâs certainly a good reason to be angry with Iran. And if I thought sanctions had any chance of working, I might be persuaded to side with you.

Seems clear to me all reasonable attempts at diplomatic pressure have failed.
Whatâs the next step? Do nothing? leave the situation as is hoping Iran has a change of heart?
Iran have a right to feel hard done by though.
I donât have an answer as to what we do. Iran are backed politically/economically by both Russia and China, which is why sanctions just wont work. Theyâd be symbolic at best.
It certainly didnât help having Boris Johnson as our foreign minister. Some of his statements were even used as evidence in her conviction.
In what sense? Genuinely asking
@Jules I think the response of the international community to the Salisbury poisoning is a strong indicator that we have support in our geopolitical fight with Russia and China.
The troubling thought is if we canât compel Iran to release one falsely arrested journalist how do we deal with inevitable bigger issues down the line? It feels like appeasement in light of increased aggression
America pulling out of the deal wasnât the best decision politically speaking
Behold the smug centrist. Observe him in his natural environment, being excessively smug for no good reason.
Iâd agree with this. I would have preferred to see a bigger sample period to measure their commit to the deal.
Iran are currently days away from breaching the enriched uranium limit, the speed at which they did this makes me feel as if the nuclear deal was largely a BS delaying tactic
Hope Iran get that nuke tbh.
Only way the US will finally leave them alone.
The US are the bad guys here. Never forget that. In these engagements, there has only been one beligerent.
Only one country overthrew the leader of the other to gain control of natural resources.
Only one country assigned an oppressive dictator to make sure the people wouldnât get too uppity that their almost nationalised resources were being stolen.
Only one country got their fighter jet to shoot down an airliner of the other, killing hundreds of people.
Only one country has spent decades trying to economically cripple the other.
But by some miracle, we got relative moderates in charge of both the US and Iran at the same time. Rouhani and Obama.
They tried for peace.and it was working.
Shame Obama was black, and so Trump and the republicans had a hard-on for undoing literally every thing he did.
Pulled the US out of the deal and here we are.
How can Iran trust the US in terms of peace when every election thereâs a 50-50 chance they elect a psycho thatâs hell-bent on invading them? (even higher tbh as the disgustocrats also hate Iran to an extent)
Enrich the fuck out of that uranium.
Use it to power the country (we need more nuclear power anyways) and make that monumental warhead with a nice picture of John Boltonâs wretched face on it.
Snowflakery going through the roof today from right wingers over Stormzy at Glasto. Hilarious.
Link me to that shiz please brother
Go to Twitter, itâs trending - just read one classic, âA knife vest is not a fashion accessory!â Itâs very funny stuff.
London really is getting out of hand. This is fucking horrific
TBF it sounds like a domestic
Yeah probably was, but 2-3 other stabbing deaths yesterday. Was it always like this? I really have no idea.
There was a stabbing in the house across the road from me yesterday afternoon!
I came home at about 7pm with 4 ambulances outside and then they left and were replaced by three police cars and loads of coppers and then thereâs been at least 2 constables stationed outside ever since and theyâre still here now.
London
What was the law in Glasgow that that idiot Khan was trying to implement in London to reduce knife crime?
No, level of knife crime has really escalated in the last 7 to 5 years.
Much of the police focus was on illegal firearms during the 00âs, combat knifes then became much cheaper, fashionable and much more accessible for teenagers to obtain which coincided with reduction in funding to youth services, police numbers and prison/probation.
Now feuds between postcodes have an added element of danger where before the focus was on physical assaults each other. Now even more low level crimes like theft are involving knives.
Really nasty situation all round tbh. No easy solution
