Welbeck was a solid player he had plenty about him he just had an awful fitness record unfortunately.

I can’t believe this is the same player.
D Welbz easily clears current martinelli, his finishing wasn’t even that bad (quality wise) it was more erratic. He had some great finishes at times, mostly dinking over the keeper, but other times channelled Gervinho.
Martinelli’s has 1 fluke season so far and started to look like he’ll never have the decision making to be a top player.
Strange how ruthless Arteta was with Ramsdale, but Martinelli just gets away with it.

The Brighton goal is what I expect of as a minimum, he often finds himself in similar situations now and absolutely fucks it.
Martinelli’s npxg per 90 the last four years:
21-22: .32
22-23: .29
23-24: .31
24-25: .29
His np goals per 90 was .24, .48, .27, .31.
Maybe he was playing with more confidence and taking up more central positions but a big part of the story is that he just had a big purple patch with finishing in 22-23 and otherwise has been more or less the same guy.

We were purring differently in 22/23.
Probably because we don’t have a Spanish left wing coach 
If Mad Mikel had his way, the solution to our left wing issue would have been a club record (at the time) for Mudryk.
Or Nico, or Rodrygo.
Between Mudryk, Nico and Madueke - I’m happiest with Madueke.
Still not buying that Martinelli is not good enough.

The way he’s playing atm he’d be lucky to be at that level.
Think I’m there tbh. Bit like the ESR transfer. Bit of a favourite but I’d lost faith that he could bring us forward. Martinelli is a squad man that we could get good money for. I’d be open to selling provided that Eze and a better winger (Rodrygo or Leao) come in.
