I’m expecting a lot from him in the long term, but almost nothing in the first season.
He’s 19. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter this season. He should be gradually “inserted” into the starting XI, and even when he gets there he’ll make mistakes, he’ll learn.
Even de Ligt, and I haven’t seen a CB so young to perform at such a high level in ages, who was absolutely brilliant for Ajax, struggled this year in Juve. And Saliba has much less experience now coming to Arsenal compared to de Ligt when he was joining Juve.
No one should absolutely expect much from Saliba in first season. Yeah, you have to expect something, he’ll have to show some promise and potential, but no one should expect some true constistency and stuff like that. He’s one for the future.
That’s fair. In my head I can’t get passed that one Chelsea game where he got played by Diego Costa. I’ll be a little surprised if he stays at Valencia with all their financial issues.
Yeah, it’s weird that his name didn’t come up as a potential outgoing. Reckon Villareal, Atleti, Betis and Sevilla will pick most of those assets as the window progresses.
