Freddie Ljungberg

So dreamy

Even if he doesn’t last a long time, his first match at the Emirates will be such a feel good moment for Arsenal fans.

It’s a wonderful feeling to have a bloke who knows what Arsenal is all about in charge, but that feeling is on steroids compared to the despair we were recently feeling under Emery. Such polar extremes of emotion.

Ride that fucking wave baby, ain’t been this happy supporting Arsenal for fucking months.

There are similarities with the last ex Arsenal player that had won nearly everything with us who went on to become our manager and who also was an attacking midfielder, George Graham.

He took over when we were mid table and in disarray, then won the League title a few seasons after.

I’m not saying Freddie will do the same but if he does a decent enough job, he could easily be kept on as coach to whatever manager that comes in.

Mildly embarrassed to say that if asked, I’d have very confidently said he was a centre back haha

He was known as stroller, who I’m sure a certain very good poster on here can identify with, because of his relaxed style of playing.

But he was definitely no CB. :grinning:

Yeah, in my head thought that nickname fit his position. I just imagined him being an imperious centre back, so good that he sometimes appeared to be strolling around the back line, using expert positioning to allow himself to sweep up any messes without breaking a sweat.

Funny the total bullshit our mind just makes up to try and justify our nonsense opinions lol

I read a tweet saying he was not unlike Ozil lol

If that’s right I dunno…

God I literally want Freddie and Per to succeed more than I’ve ever wanted anything in the last 6 months, fucking hell.

I know this is just me being a hopeless romantic but he’s an Arsenal legend, that understands what it means to play for Arsenal, won loads of trophies at Arsenal, is loved by the fans. On top of that he has a very relaxed confidence, effortlessly cool, good looking, fluent language skills.

What an incredible representative he could be for us. I really, really hope he surprises everyone with his ability, knowledge and tactical acumen.

Please please please please let him be the next Guardiola and Zidane and not Alan Shearer.

I feel like if it doesn’t happen now it will be because you want it too much.

Here is an example of Graham as a player

and another as a manager

You might recognise a few faces in the team like Alan Smith, Bould, Groves, Dixon, Adams etc.

We had two points deducted and still won the League title.

He was a little bit like Ozil in his playing style and a very good passer as well as having good control and intelligence.

Ozil is a better player but Graham had a better attitude.

Big day today. I really hope the players give 200% for him. Which should be an instant improvement on the 30% they gave for Unai.

COME ON LUMBERG!! :sweden:

We will only know about Freddie’s skill to manage the team when we are fully into the second half of the season.
He’s not going to win enough games in my opinion to get us into top four so let’s hold on until the end of the season before bringing in a new manager. This is unless we are facing relegation.

I wonder if he’ll pick Xhaka

No doubt about it

And Ɩzil?

I guess a benefit he has is that players like Saka and Willock have featured a lot in the first team so maybe they’ll be able to help him implement his system

Don’t do it Freddie! Don’t go to the dark side.
