I can’t wait for an Arsenal season where it’s not written off by December.

The idea of Freddie being in charge was a bit abstract to me until I watched his interview. Suddenly I’m very aware of how much I want him to smash the shit out of this and get the job.

I think it’s very similar to the Ole situation in that we’d love a club legend to smash it and get the job but the realism is the task at hand is probably too great for the club legend and we should really be focusing on appointing a new manager regardless of the results.

From the athletic article Ornstein wrote a few members of the panel think it’s too early for him but you never know if he goes on a run like OGS did :joy::joy:

despite them categorically using ā€˜we don’t want to be like united’ as an excuse not to sack Emery (before they relented) I can 100% see them giving him the job if we beat Norwich tomorrow or something similarly clownish

There isn’t much difference in giving it to Arteta or Freddie for me anyway

We’ll be 5 points from 4th tomorrow :unai:

fuck top 4.

We’re winning the fucking league *

  • if VVD gets injured soon

They deliberately referred to him as the ā€œinterim managerā€, rather than taking control until the end of the season. So I don’t think they see him as a long term solution, unless he impresses during his audition.

Hopefully Freddie is ready

Yeah, you’re right. But fuck that, I’m excited

This can’t be stressed enough. As much as we’ll love it if Freddie delivers results early, we can’t let that sway us from making the sensible choice and going for the person we think is the absolute best candidate we can get.

I know what you mean, but I’m deliberately misinterpreting this as Arteta and Ljungberg being on the same level, club legend wise.

Freddie is a legend for the football and the red hair. If Emery had died his hair red, I’d have backed him to the hilt.

OK, so with a slightly more sensible hat on:

If the right guy isn’t out there at the moment and potentially not there till the end of the season, and in the meantime Freddie does a good job, let’s say one way or another gets us into the CL, is he the right guy we’re looking for?

The mistake I feel United made was not waiting to see how Solskjaer handled a bad patch, so perhaps that’s what would do as much to define Freddie as whether he got good results.

I don’t think Freddie has the personality to give this squad the kick up the a*** they really need.

Internal caretakers don’t seek to upset the apple cart or be too radical generally, the lack of security means you can’t. We might get a few results on a positive bounce this season but I don’t think freddie long term is sustainable.

We need a real bastard in charge

Ljungberg permanent, with a heavy emphasis on youth. Like United with Solskjaer.

My biggest nightmare, this scenario.
