We used to have a store named FRYS. They were specialized in computer parts and electronics.
A lot of people bought the parts from there and built their computers from scratch.
Motherboard, hard drive, case, CD/DVD ROMS, power supply, hard drive, memory card, video card (Raden), sound card (sound blaster!!!), fan… there was so much fun building one from ground zero, even I was mostly a spectator at that time.
Unfortunately, they all closed down a few years back…
Started up a Sunderland save on FM today, main goal is to obviously get them back into the Prem and then try a maintain that place. Long terms goals are Europe and a cup/league win
I’ve just downloaded various updates from FM Scout and Sortitoutsi and I’m now playing FM25(ish). New kits, players a year older, contracts a year shorter and a transfer budget of £77m. PSG have offered £35m for Partey, so he’s off and I’ve triggered the £51m minimum release clause for Zubimendi.
The only downside to the update is that due to the games’ coding it still starts in Summer 2023, but otherwise it’s like a whole new challenge. Lookman may be my other signing, available for £30m and looks very good ingame.
I am trying to keep it releastic for the first season (hopefully without the injury crisis). I’ve bought a few youth prospects, including a young striker Francesco Pio Esposito from Inter as I’d like real Arsenal to buy him.
Problem is, I have an opportunity to scoop-up Nico Williams for about £50m and he’s really keen on the move. I can cancel the Sterling loan in the editor.
Should I do it? Or keep it more realistic for this season?
I always tick disable budgets in the first season.
Makes the game a bit more dynamic and more opportune things could happen if a big club falls out of Europe for example or the AI fails with a good team and gets relegated.
I think his expectations of playing time will be tested, he wants to be a “star player”, I want him to rotate with Martinelli and Saka. I’ll cross that bridge later.
The trick in FM24 is to wait until a player has a bad run of form, then they don’t complain when you lower their squad status.
I don’t play FM much any more but on FIFA I usually turn off transfers in the first window and pretend I’ve taken over after the first window and just sim most of the first season. Sometimes I’ll make a signing and loan them out to take advantage of the budget which will be gone the following season.
I’m also realistic on my transfers so you won’t see me nabbing Yamal or pinching Rodri from City and I only sign players with real faces lol
Yeah, I use the third party FMRTE editor to only scout real players and staff with faces, the regens are awful.
With my new game save, I’m using the unofficial 24/25 update, so I still had a transfer budget of £77m sold Partey and I bagged Zubimendi and Williams a season early. I also fine-tuned a few youngsters who weren’t rated back in 2023 when FM24 came out.
The result is, we beat City in 3 consecutive matches (League Cup Semi either side of that wonderful away league win) and we’re top of the league, with our potential 25/26 squad.
174/174 at the moment, he’s hit his ceiling but he’s still amazing. Martinelli got 27 assists, Saka and Odegaard shared 20 goals each. Nico Williams chipped in with 12. None of the attackers got injured for very long and all of my outfield players scored.
