Football Manager

Releasing something you know is not right, isn’t right. Seen it too many times in my previous job and ultimately one of the reasons i stepped away from it.

I rate that statement. Of course it could be cover for a complete and utter fuck up somewhere along the line but still.

It’s a brave and fair decision. Hopefully they can cope well with the financial setback of missing an entire installment of the game.

Hopefully that’s an amount of money they can afford to leave on the table without jeopardising the future od the company.

I’d like to see them rewarded for not releasing a mess just in order to bag the cash. I feel like releasing a pile of shit and then promising to fix it in future patches after receiving backlash is what many other devs would have done.

Its a shame but hopefully FM26 will be worth the wait and we got fm24 to keep us going

So many people in the comments asking for a 24/25 data update. When FM’s community has like a million of those lol

As someone who has bought Flight Simulator 2024 that I can’t use on my PC until optimisation changes are made in their second sim update in April, I applaud their decision.

I’m still enjoying my career save that’s now a over a year old. I might download some of the data updates that can be found on any FM Mod site if I fancy another go at winning the title with our squad, but otherwise, I’ll happily carry on playing FM24 until Sports Interactive have a working product to release.

BTW, the problem appears to have happened around the time they tried to add the new UI to the match engine. I’m not an expert in these things, but we saw the new user interface then just as there was talk of seeing the new match engine in action…the updates stopped.

Are updates possible for the console version? Was genuinely looking forward to this latest instalment after not playing FM for nearly 20 years. Respect the decision however.

I don’t think they are. That’s an issue that console gamers are having in a number of games I play. If you have a PC you generally have access to mods, if you have a console it’s official add-ons only.

I’d personally advise anyone who is into gaming to buy a decent PC next time round instead of spending money on the next gen consoles (when they appear). With a PC, you can essentially swap out hardware and keep up with advances in tech. I’m currently looking at a new Graphics and RAM cards for my 3 year old gaming rig, it’ll cost £800-£900 but it’ll mean it will still work with games in another 3 years.

This came up on my FYP and I had to watch it for the nostalgia. :face_holding_back_tears:

My first ever football manager game, I loved how simple it was and that glorious 2d circle engine.

An addiction was started and one that would last up to Football Manager 2018. I lost interest after that

Arsenal in game related spoiler below

In his last game of the 5 season series. His Southampton team played Arsenal in the 2008 Champions League Final. Arsenal won 3-0 and Thierry Henry scored a brace as we won our first ever CL :smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear:

I remember playing the Italian CM. Play the whole team through the middle and absolutely dominate.

Games were far simpler back then.

A next gen game console cost cheaper and last minimum for 3 years also?

Upgrade a good CPU and graphics card is about the same cost?

They’re probably comparable, but that’s not the only thing you can add to a PC, get a decent sound card and it’s a quality music system, large screen makes it better than a 2nd TV. Get some hard drives so you never have to pay for cloud storage. My entire LP/CD/photo collection all backed-up on disc in my home, safe from increasing charges for streaming services and storage.

Watch You Tube without adds. Plus all other components are easily replaced if they go. And they shit all over laptops in virtually every way, aside from not being very portable.

Maybe I’m an old duffer but I’m convinced every home should have a PC and you don’t even need a gaming machine for Football Manager, £600 should cover it. I’ve only got a gaming PC because you need something with a bit of power for Flight Simulators and music production.

PC versions of games are more mod-able too of course.

I was addicted to this (being the championship manager franchise) on the first Xbox console. Had a long save that I put hours into.

Thanks to the non-appearance of FM25, I’m now 10 years into management. I’d forgotten how weird it is having a team made up mostly of generated players. I might quit soon and download the updated data mod and see if I can do better than Arteta with the current squad.

I agree, PC has more capability…
20 years ago I used the PC to watch TV (also streaming video)… at that time there was no crossovers on consoles, and most of my friends were using PS… so I had no choice but to play PS games… as I grew older, I spent less time on TV/Movies/Videos, so I stepped away from PC (I am too ignorant and naive for updating the system/hardware) and stick with game console.

There was no Reddit (or similar site) for us to research a decade ago…

All my PCs were assembled by my friends who was major in computer science or programing
all the tech guys or nerds.

Maybe… maybe next system, I will go back to PC again…
really depends if I will get a dog or not.
If I get a dog, I am committed to train him/her as my service dog.
If I am not destined to have another one, then I will spend more time on movies.

If you do ever go back to buying PCs, avoid the chain suppliers and the likes of Dell and HP.
There are hundreds of small companies around the UK who make exactly the sort of PC you need without the bloatware or unnecessary flashy functions.

I’ve been buying Chillblast PCs for the last 20 years. When buying my first one they called to check what I was using the PC for and recommended a lower, cheaper spec. More recently they sent me a disk so I could update the BIOS and firmware for my motherboard, a year after my service warranty with them ran out. Full instructions as well, in proper English rather than IT speak.

It’s not as powerful as PC’s but I have a Lenovo Legion 5 and I love it.
