Folarin Balogun

A bit harsh to write him off at 20. But he definitely needs to go on loan and prove something in first team football somewhere else.

Heā€™s been linked with Middlesbrough so letā€™s see how he copes in the championship

Seeing many people overreacting over his performance online. Thought he was very lively and had a good chemistry with ESR and Tavares. Sure, his shots didnā€™t come off great but that will hopefully come with more senior games.

Essential that he goes on loan in January.

Yeah, everyone agrees those games are a waste of time for him.

He needs proper time with the seniors

This. He needs tougher opposition to grow his game. The potential is there.

People are always going to be harsh on him because our youth are so fucking good at the moment and he kicked up a big song and dance about his contract.

Would have been better for him and the club to be quieter on that front but he wanted the big bucks and the drama. Got to ride the waves of expectations after that tbh.

Thought he was woeful last night mind you probably our worst player.

Said this last week. Youngsters in the team have set the bar high and you donā€™t get a free pass on age because of it now.
Got himself taken off last night with the yellow card but overall flunked his lines.
Doubt thereā€™s many chances left for this season. Loan out would be better for him but he may not get that chance now with Auba situation. Lot of bench warming looks the likely outcome.

If youā€™re gonna cry about a contract, at least show you deserve it. Hasnā€™t done himself any favours as weā€™re gonna be expecting him to perform.

Good chance to see what heā€™s all about at senior level

and for him to develop further.

Seems like a good loan for him. Boro are 7th in the Championship and have a legit shot at making the playoffs but have really struggled to score goals this season. They seem to play a 3-5-2 most often with a pretty mediocre strike partnership (only 10 goals between them in 24 games) so if he impresses he should have a real opportunity to get some minutes as one of the two forwards.

So that leaves us with Laca and Nketiah tbh. Martinelli if weā€™re desperate.

Auba looks done out here so I wonā€™t include him. Club is trying to sell him it seems.

With AMN going, weā€™re damaging our squad depth unless we are serious about bringing new bodies in.

Nketiah could be going too.
It looks like the club is already negotiating to get a striker in this month if that happens.

Good move for him. Chris Wilder will be a good coach for him. Wilder been chasing Balogun for a while, including when he was at Sheff Utd, so he obviously sees something in him. Balogun should hopefully see plenty of minutes.

Iā€™m thinking the only way we OK this is because we have something lined up.

Surprised a Prem club didnā€™t take him. Oh yeah because heā€™s poop.

I remember last feb? When everyone was loosing their shit at arteta for not playing Balogun after Balogun said he might leave.

Like he was good for Rhian Brewster :grimacing:

In all seriousness he should have been loaned out before the season began but better late than never, you canā€™t necessarily gauge the growth of young players but canā€™t say Iā€™ve seen anything to indicate he will be good enough for a top team.

Perhaps we may get a decent fee for him down the line at least.
