Ferguson vs Wenger | Pep vs Klopp

Nope, more power to a legit club like Liverpool than a fake club like City

Wenger and Klopp could easily have achieved the same success at the biggest spending clubs in Europe but could Ferguson or Guardiola have done the same at smaller clubs with limited resources?

As I said before, the biggest advantage the richer clubs have, is that they can buy two world class players for every position then rotate the team and avoid too many injuries.

They can also buy world class players every window and get rid of any big signings that don’t work out, without having to worry about a budget.

Klopp couldn’t do what Wenger did at Arsenal in his first 10 years.

Hopefully he does what Wenger did in his last 10 years though, be nice if Liverpool fucked off for a while now.

because his first 10 years was not in England?

Anyway, his resume is impressive

Klopp still needs a considerable amount (monetary) more than Wenger to be a success, though.

To win the title in his first full season here on a relative shoestring. It was an almighty achievement.

To think we weren’t really contenders going into the season. Man United (naturally), Newcastle, Liverpool- all favourites ahead of us.

That run from March 98 onwards, Ron. Searing.

football nowadays is just not the same as 30, 40 years ago.

you still can see Porto, or BVB winning the CL long time ago, but now it is all about money, an all-star squad, huge investment.

Wenger was a pioneer at that time, but I will not say because he was our legend and had great success then discredit Klopp.
Very different scenario, very different.
Leicester could snatch a title from the big four back then, but I guarantee you no more.

This is entirely subjective lol what’s not subjective is trophies won.

Klopp loves to act like a pauper but he’s spent around 700m since he joined Liverpool and it would’ve been almost 100m more if they managed to get Caicedo.

The guy is such a champagne socialist lol

Wenger will always have the Invincibles, but I think Klopp’s run at Dortmund was impressive tbh. Bayern was still a juggernaut who was still making CL finals.

Klopp outplayed Pep with the likes of Quansah, Elliot, Gomez, Endo, Bradley and Kelleher.
If not for awkward finishes, it would have been 3-1 for Liverpool.

Klopp >> Pep

Brw, all that build-up and tension before the match. We had some strong tackles but nothing of note.

Fair play to both for performing at a near excellent level in the battles but as far rivalries go they’re honestly so, so boring.

Will never ever touch the rivalries between Wenger, Fergie and later on Mourinho.

Nope, and there wouldn’t have been this nauseating love-in ahead of and after the match, either.

That hug in the end was really sickening.

This is how it’s done.

To summarize, they just exchanging the F bombs.
Maybe one in German and one in Spanish.

What does Guardiola have that Arteta and Klopp don’t?
World class players for every position, including the bench.

What do Arteta and Klopp have that Guardiola doesn’t?
Injury problems.

Wenger and Klopp >> Guardiola, Mourinho and Ferguson.

The sport is too watered down for those kind of rivalries again. You see elements of it here and there but are very contained. You need the club, fans, players and managers to all be in on it, you need a (reasonable) level of irrationality and delusion and acceptance of it. Just look at the dumb critique over celebrating that we receive. Ferguson used to go nuts all the time. Even Wenger couldn’t help himself. Imagine we critique all that shit 20 years ago telling them to cut it out, the soul of it all would be fucking dead.

I appreciate the professional nature of Klopp-Pep rivalry.
It’s commendable to compete at that high level and still be respectful.

Intense rivalry makes for good entertainment… true; but the whole handbag fights seem very toxic. I didn’t witness the Keane-Vieira rivalry, but the whole fan debate on who was the hardest of hard men is laughable & childish. I can see grown men indulging in that bullshit.

I used to find it really bothersome when every Classico would end up with a bullshit brawl and pathetic eye gauge.

Klopp-Pep may not be the best rivalry but as a neutral, I appreciate it a lot more.

Nah, give me Fergie raging cos he thought Arsene insulted his wife every day of the week.

The spice elevated the rivalry to different heights.

Two years have passed, but this is still the one.

I find it quite funny that the Ped / Klopp rivalry is being put on a pedestal.

Liverpool have won 1 league title in 7 full seasons under Klopp (I’m not counting his debut season where he joined in October).

Ped in 7 seasons has won 5 titles. Not really a rivalry, is it? Scousers and the media would stab you in the ballbag for speaking these words lol.

Compare that to Arsène who won 3 titles in his first 7 full seasons. SAF won the other 4. That’s more of a rivalry. Fumbling the 02/03 season still hurts bad. We should have had 3 on the trot. Anyways.

Klopp has pushed Ped close a number of times, but ultimately, it’s a fucking 5 to 1 record. Ped has dominated Klopp.

Yes, Ped has much more spending power…but so did Ferguson. Arsène still bagged us 3 titles (one of which is gold).

This rivalry is being blown up because the alternative (realistic) narrative of City buying the league in the most soulless and corrupt way imaginable isnt what Sky want to put out there. Best league in the world and all that.
