Hang on. Aren’t these supposed to be one of them teams who have shown more ambition than Arsenal and failed to an awful Arsenal team.
You would expect more from Ancelotti tbh.
Strongly disagree, Everton’s transfer window was praised (I even thought it was decent) and Ancelotti was thought to be a coup. Yet they made no progress despite getting the big’un.
Their points tally is the highest for several seasons and, although they had a decent transfer window, they needed a complete overhaul, especially upfront where Ancelotti certainly did a good job with Calvert Lewin.
They were top four in the first half of the season but with a few injuries and a lack of depth in quality, they joined us in mid table.
I still maintain, a manager of the experience of Ancelotti, could have come here for a season and sorted out the complete chaos here, while we looked for a permanent top European manager.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves 59 Points is well within range of what they’ve been doing in the past:
Since 2013-14, Points at the end of the season:
2013-14: 72
2014-15: 47
2015-16: 47
2016-17: 61
2017-18: 49
2018-19: 54
2019-20: 49
2020-21: 59
This is Everton, they look okayish then look shite. Sometimes they are more ‘okay’ and sometimes they are more ‘shite’.
I like DCL but his goal scoring record is decent at best atm (It probably will get better). He has 16 League goals, Bamford has 17.
Also I’m not sure how they’re going to approach a overhaul when almost all of their starting players are players recently bought. Seems like they’re doing something wrong.
They are and Richarlison fell away big time this season.
Also 2 home defeats in the cup competitions granted to the Manchester clubs, but didn’t turn up in either game.
It’s 26 years now without a trophy and not much identity in the ensuing years.
To be fair DCL missed quite a few games when he was injured while in very good form.
Although they did buy a few players, their first team was completely lacking in attacking quality so it’s going to take more than one window to sort their mess out.
They are clearly where they deserve to be but I don’t think too much blame should be directed at their manager.
I’m not sure why you’re willing to give Ancelloti a pass you wouldn’t dream of giving him if he was here. Everton have spent vast sums across multiple windows now and getting in a really top quality coach was supposed to be the icing. Instead they have regressed or at best are no better off at all.
Key for Everton at this stage is not to panic, Ancelloti is the best manager they’ve had as part of their new project and they’re not going to get anyone better.
Patience is required Ancelloti will get the balance of the side right, their recruitment has been very suspect, don’t think Brands is the guy. They should make a play for Campos tbh
Oh now you’re tempting fate.
Just preparing for myself for the inevitable news when he signs elsewhere
The Everton season has proved to me I was right about Ancelotti, his best days are long gone, the squad is decent and he finished with a negative GD.
He looked underwhelming at PSG, and that was during his best days.
He’s mostly seen as a top manager because he won some cup competitions with world class squads. I think Everton can easily find someone better.
Though I don’t much rate the Everton squad I’ve been saying Ancelotti is pretty much done at the top level for a while now. Wouldn’t take him here at all.
The stuff coming out of Bayern after his tenure was quite damning, with that said Everton need to step up their recruitment. Richarlison isn’t top quality IMO, inconsistent and scores too many headers.
DCL is good but their lack of wide options needs sorting out, need a new RB too as Coleman is long in the tooth now. Iwobi was a terrible signing, still laugh how we fleeced them there. Gomes is an uninspiring player, does very little on the pitch.
I vaguely remember you having a debate about it with @SRCJJ and he thought Carlo could get them top 4 ? Or am I wrong ?
Everton top 4 lol
I can’t remember but he might have haha.
He has a spot for Ancelotti and to be fair to Ancelotti they looked good initially but they tailed off quite badly, ultimately I never thought Ancelotti is the kind of guy that can make a sqaud like that punch above its weight to that degree. He’s more of a coach that needs top players throughtout IMO especially considering he seems to be on the slide as a coach.
That didn’t take long.
Eddie Howe, Big Sam, or Lampard for the hot seat I reckon!
Do they go all out on Conte? They can promise him backing as well with Usmanov now.
Conte would never go to Everton…I reckon there is a chance of him going to Spurs still
