I think the player will soon come back from his break after the U21 Euros, he and this entourage will hold some more talks with Arsenal, Arsenal will reiterate to him how important he still is to them, maybe we’ll increase our contract offer a bit and that’ll be it.
I think his camp simply heard what MLS is now making, saw all these forward links and decided to make some noise through the media.
there is a reason dowman is being registered for the 1st team at 16, at the youngest age…he literally couldn’t play last season because of his age. He was allowed to be around the 1st team and train with them to prepare him for bit part roles this season. They are desperate to keep and it seems he will be one of the players they will want to build around he is their ‘jewel’.
Arteta has already confirmed he’ll be with the first team this season.
Let’s hold off any dispute over how good he is until we’ve seen whether he gets games and impresses. From the scouting I’ve done, I’m confident that he’s ready but will happily take a kicking on here if I’m wrong.
Great to have him in and around the first team and maybe even ride the bench a few times. And sure, if the opportunity arises like it did for Nwaneri even give him 5 minutes on the field.
His agent would not be doing his job if he didn’t use every tactic in the book to get his client the best contract.
Let him do his job. I am sure a new contract will be sorted.
What we don’t need is Gunnerblog saying “AKTUALLY” (and I did listen to the Arsecast Extra when he discussed this) and stoking the flames.
Ethan didn’t play as big a part as MLS last season but featured in such a way that he’s certainly announced himself to be counted from now on in the first team. The agent, whilst being a prick, is technically getting the best deal for Ethan. I don’t believe he wants a move away from the club and his friends at this stage of his career.
Arsenal can be firm though and offer a reasonable increase but it should be noted that he stands to earn far more in time with the club when he continues to improve, that’s a given.
