Ethan Nwaneri (22)

Good, worst case we’re securing a 30-40m future fee even if he only becomes half the player that looks possible.

The worst thing we could do is send him out on loan. More than ready and able to contribute to a title winning campaign.

If we end up signing Madueke, Eze, and Rodrygo, which would see him game time limited, I’d be more than happy to send him out on loan, particularly to somewhere like Palace, if it help reduced the price for Eze.

He’ll play as much as he plays and that will be fine.

So if he gets limited game time across the season, mostly as a sub, you think this is better for the player than if he went on loan to Palace and effectively took Eze’s starting spot in the team?

About 8 million % better

If Nwaneri is good enough to play as a starter for a Premier League club, then there isn’t any point in loaning him out at all.

£8m is a decent saving for Eze, given our likely total spend this summer, plus we have a player who has then gained significant experience over the course of the season. It would be win win IMO.

Would probably prefer for him to go on loan but if he’s happy to play sporadically, fair enough. Think he really struggles for game time next season unless Eze is seen as more of a wide player and Havertz doesn’t spend some time in midfield.

He’ll essentially have Saka, Eze(if we are to believe the noise, Martinelli, Madueke, Jesus, Odegaard and Merino ahead of him in the race for the five forward positions. I haven’t included Trossard and have given up on Rodrygo.

You’ve literally just made something up there

What have I made up? There you go lambasting again!

Don’t know about Shamrock but I certainly was basting a lamb last week.

Tbh I don’t think a 1 year loan for Nwaneri would be the worst thing. Absolutely fine if he stays here though, think he can still get enough game time and if he’s good enough he should be forcing his way in.

I just think he’s young enough that the 1 year loan to play every week could benefit him without meaning he’s done here like most our loans really mean.

Benefit to playing more regularly but also benefit from staying round our lot building chemistry and learning what mikel needs from him.

£8 million is not 8 million %
What’s the connection between the Irish and sheep?

I’m so confused

Great point, in a hypothetical world where we sign Madueke, Eze and Rodrygo(on top of a striker) Ethan’s game time could be affected.
Good thing that’s a very unlikely scenario.

genuine question, when was the last time a loan truly worked out for a player at AFC? Saliba doesn’t count, he was already a St. Etienne player.

I can’t think of any that went on loan, came back and cemented their position in the team or contributed positively in a huge way.

Nwaneri must stay, even if he only plays a handful of games.

Also we’re injury F.C lol, I’m more than certain something will happen that will require his services like last season.
