Emiliano Martinez

I disagree. He’s clearly very good and won’t concede tonight.

Man of the Match. Maybe that says enough about the game

I’d maybe have Ceb for motm but no doubt this man is reliable game after game while Leno is out. Great decision making when closing down, his shot stopping, sweeper keeping, his air game is strong, he’s just fairly well rounded isn’t he.

The end of the season will come at the wrong time for him. If he kept this up over half/a third of a season then it would only be right for Leno to have to earn his place back.

When he played a few years ago I said he’s very calm, good with his feet and the team seems to trust him. He rarely needs to do spectacular saves, which is a good sign for a keeper, but he lacked athleticism then imo. So I didn’t rate him to ever be a starting keeper for us, because he lacked that extra a top goalkeeper needs. He’s been amazing now though, with the highest save % of all. If he plays like this the remaining games then I think Leno will have to earn his place.

I just cannot see how he can be dropped. He’s been so assured and he offers a level of control and calmness that I don’t even get from Leno. He’s just confident and commanding.

I like how tall he is as well. Gives me the confidence Van der Sar gave me when watching Holland matches. Nothing gets past him!

They’re both great. Emi’s best attribute right now is that he looks so assertive. He wasn’t like that. Seems like he has been waiting for this opportunity for a while and wants to make the most of it.

He catches everything with such ease.

I’m sorry Leno but Emi cannot be dropped and he’s an Arsenal man which makes him better

I do think EMI is better with the ball at his feet than Leno is too. So I think that works in his favour.

After all the years he’s spent here in the realms of obscurity, I’m really pleased for him that he’s doing well.

We can sell Leno for more as well

He’s been exceptional but let’s not act like this is now his level

If it was he wouldn’t have had the career he’s had, don’t just become a top keeper like that.

Small ass sample size

That was a superb save at the end as well. Got across so quickly to the spinning ball.

We went years without having a top class keeper and now it seems we have 2 at the same time.

He’s been outstanding since coming into the team. Taken his chance so well, he should keep his place.

did you lot go for a beverage when he completely slept on Firmino and hit his leg and it hit the post?

He’s no outfield player. Many keepers make their breaks at his age.
A pattern I’ve noticed by the way, keepers who have been given opportunities early on and had success early on drop significantly before they even turn 30.
Hart, Casillas and Valdes examples of it.

How many do you see do it at the big clubs?

Except like van der Sar?

Hart was always shit mate.

Haha, I was baffled at how calm he looked there.
Like mate, you almost pulled a blunder.

Handanovic, Navas come to mind.
