Edu Gaspar

We’ll see what happens with him but at the time I still don’t have a problem with him walking then.

I didn’t want him signed either. I don’t necessarily think there was a huge market for him but we’ll see. Would Palace come back for him? Could he be a fit at a place like Brighton and play more minutes, play in Europe and still make the same money?

The problem is that we have still been short on numbers within the squad. Elneny has been the best of the deadwood to keep as he has got the ability to play a low key game or come on as a sub and shore things up in midfield.

Elneny is fine as backup to the backup.

If we actually sign rice he’ll be 4th choice dm and he’ll still give 100% whenever he steps on the pitch.

No problem with arsenal looking after him with another 1 year deal.

I don’t understand why we have to compare ourselves to City’s squad.
They have oil money, we don’t.
We could never spend what they have spent.

Get our own 25 competitive players, build our own team, play our own style, and fuck City

Think no squad in world football can be compared to City right now. Not even PSG.

It comes from the fact that when we need to replace 20 players out of a 25 man squad, it is gonna take time to gain depth. We have spent 3 seasons getting to a competent starting 11, no surprise we don’t have depth yet.

The cost to replacing that many players always meant it would take time - unless Kroenke decides to be like City, get Walmart to be a shirt sponsor for £1Bn and give Edu/Arteta a blank cheque…

The aim was top 4 for this season (the title run was a bonus but wasn’t anticipated), so renewing Nketiah was OK (not great, but OK)

This. Which is also why I find it comical that ex-Utd players like Rio & Keane think their team of '99 could even hold a candle to this City team & Guardiola in general.

Not even our Invincible team would beat City comfortably if both teams were up for it. It’d probably end in a draw.

EdU iS a BuM

Time to put your money where your mouth is

Groundbreaking scoop there, “man is going to do his job”

Would have had more respect for Edu if he was like “I’m taking two weeks in Dubai now, then another two weeks in Rio some time in July so hopefully the business can get done around those trips because the VRBO deposits are non refundable.”

Didn’t he say in an interview last year about “taking some time to relax and go on holidays” and people fucking killed him for it online? Dude was posting stories having fun with his family and he was getting abused for “doing nothing”.

Being a sporting director isn’t just transfers. Dude has a hand in our academy, our contracts, sorting out the financial side of things, talking to potential targets or agents ahead of transfer windows, talking to our players and their agents about their future, etc.

Dude isn’t just clocking in and out every day, gets the bag, and grills steaks.

I think we need to give Edu a break. He has done excellent work getting Ramsdale and Saka signed up to new contracts. Reports are that discussions ongoing with Saliba and Odegaard. Ground work done for Rice. I’m sure they have a clear plan in place for the other transfers too for the summer. Hope people can see after the summer window is done what a good job Edu has done for Arsenal.

Tbf with the money offered I think anyone could’ve gotten them to sign

I don’t even think it’s objective at this point. He is doing a good to very good job.
