It does look kind of wrong having Eddie and Nelson on that list with the other 6 players.
Not really. Eddie still has to demonstrate that he is part of the long term plans at Arsenal, but he has played his role this season when we lost Jesus to injury. We are still short on numbers within the squad and IMO we need to prioritise adding top quality players to our squad, over numbers. Extending contracts for Nketiah and Nelson make perfect sense, and means that if we decide to sell, we can secure a transfer fee for them. There is also a big part of me that wants to see our Academy players do well and establish themselves in the first team. Great motivation for any young talent in the academy and it would be something special for the four of them to receive PL winners medals, if we can go on to win the PL in the new few years.
This is the summer that defines his legacy as sporting director.

I donāt think weāve been in this position since heās been here.
Arteta and Edu backed with the Kroenkeās investment have brought the standards of the club back to challenging for leagues. Thereās a very good team and manager here now in their prime with the benefit of Champions League status and money. Thereās surely a substantial budget in place to capitalise on the growth this past season.
This is the time and opportunity for Edu and co to help push us towards greatness. If he canāt help make it happen now, weāll know heās not up to the task of getting us to the ultimate goal.

I want to see what kind of great deal he would getā¦ like hidden gems or great players in a great price.
So far he just signed players that people know, or paying the market value.
Youth like Marqinhos and Vieira are unproven yet.

Seems we could be getting three big deals (Kai, Rice and Timber) done almost all together, in a matter of (couple of) weeks.
It would take YEARS to get deals like this for Wenger&Gazidis.

Doesnāt matter if itās signings people know of. Edu has a major role to play in finalising those too. We have an exceptional opportunity as a club now to strike while the ironās hot. A flurry of competition ready to leave us in the dust again if we fail to do so.
How he handle the Rice bidding is a joke to me
Itās just nonsense to blame Edu. He clearly has to get the ok from Kroenkes before placing bids like this and given they arent writing blank cheques I wouldnāt be pointing fingers at them either. This is just the way these things go when you arenāt a nation state posing as a football club.
