I agree.
In the last few windows we needed to shift around fifteen players and only a fraction of those have left, with some of those only on loan.
The problem is they aren’t good enough for the wages they’re on so other clubs aren’t interested.
We’ve still got around ten players we need to shift, that have been here for several seasons.
But we’re also still buying players that we’ll lose money on, if they don’t work.
I can’t imagine many clubs queueing up to pay the 50m we paid for White or the 30m we paid for Ramsdale, 8m for Tavares, 50m for Partey, 10m for Mari, etc.
Arteta can blame anyone he likes but he and Edu are responsible for where we are.
He bought a lot of these players, he’s coached them for long enough, he’s chosen to make our worst player captain and give him more money and he has managed to drag a top six squad to the bottom of the PL, playing the worst football we’ve seen.
He and Edu has been given more than 200m to spend on strengthening the team and, since he took over, we’ve got worse.
Everyone knows it but the board are too lazy and stupid to do anything about it.
I’m looking forward to our 30 match unbeaten run when he returns.
He’s a good player, maybe a great player but so far he’s been a disappointment. Not all his fault but he hasn’t been on the field enough and based on what the club sold us with his signing he’s either not able to hold a midfield by himself (which is understandable, but not what we were sold on) or is being coached in a way that doesn’t get the best out of him.
Those three games this season without him, are probably 3 of the worse performances since he’s been here.
It’s a pity he’s not here now for the 3 Xhaka misses because Odegaard and Lokonga would have a better base to build on.
To be fair, this has been said at the start of several seasons, since we moved to the Emirates.
We have written off more seasons, after inadequate transfer windows and poor starts to the season, than almost any other club.
Yeah it is but that’s part of why the signing has been a disappointment so far. Is he unlucky? Is it something in the way Arteta overtrains his players? I can accept that his most recent injury was a bad tackle and it could happen to anyone but last year was just a total waste. I’m really wary of banking on him to come in and be after the break, and then we’ll do this whole dance again after AFCON.
I dunno… he featured for us in those Europa league matches where we got beaten by farmers. Lesser opposition than anything we’ve faced this season in the PL. And Partey actually looked terrible. Gave the ball away near our penalty area several times and put us under immense pressure. Not his fault tho tbh the way we play, or lack of play, is down to dirt pounder.
Ceballos factor that tbh. Can’t carry a donkey like that. Trying to guess which way he’s spinning next.
Lokonga and Odegaard without Xhaka would of been nice with him sitting in.
Would make sense if Ceballos was playing behind him but he was more forward as an 8. Partey was sitting eight in front of defense making bad back passes to the GK or dawdling on the ball far too long Xhaka style.
Ainsley had discussions with the club since December. We knew he was off for quite some time now. They weren’t gonna block his move again. Edu could and should have secured a replacement earlier on.
Arteta is busy enough having to coach the team.
I think on the Arthur thing Juventus is just fucking with us. Everything suggest Allegri wants to keep him and the Juventus board I think are just ‘errr’ and ‘uhmm’.
Where’s the other targets. Arthur is the only solid link out there. We haven’t sounded out anyone else?
