Edu Gaspar

I wonder who leaked that info to Ornstein.

This mofo is on a sabotage mission, someone needs to give him the sack, and it should be a hard one, sick of people getting jobs just because they were once affiliated with the club.

This is a very American sports way of thinking. It reminds me a lot of the Orioles or Astros in baseball or maybe Philly in basketball. You have these very clear cycles where you have to shed bad contracts and are forced into developing younger or cheaper players. Eventually you churn out the bad contracts, hope the young guys mature exponentially and then supplement them with big signings which you can now afford because you endured the pain of shedding those bad contracts and spending less.

The big problem is that I don’t know if that’s possible in football. In American sports it’s easier to plan these two, three or five year cycles. You know that you’ll be able to rely on cheap young talent through the draft and you know that your rivals will be limited as well. For example, NBA executives can strategize about which free agents to chase by looking at opposing teams’ rosters and contracts. That doesn’t really exist in football.

Arsenal have 10 first-team players whose contracts expire in the next 18 months. Edu believes this squad will only be truly competitive in time for the 2022/23 season, when natural churn has occurred & the young players arrive at their peak.

Edu believes? Based on what? Having done/seen this before? And will it only take 1 year for these players to reach their peak? Has Pepe reached his peak after 2 years? Is it really as simple as needing more time?

I mean, either Edu sees/knows something about these young players that we don’t or he is completely out of his depth. I know which it is. I don’t say that none of the new signings will come good but I don’t think, even for just one moment, that Edu has an eye for talent that like no other. And who’s to say what the peak of these players is.

Edu, what a guy. Trying to sort out his pal Kia again…

Good on Arteta standing by his conviction, the Ramsdale deal is sound and I hope it works out. Poor Arteta probably won’t be around to see it but at least Ramsdale looks really eager to play for us and that’s something that’s missing with a lot of our signings.

Does Edu have any talent identifying and recruitment nous other than recommending his mates? This guy is going to spearhead a youth project?

Arteta when Edu suggests another one of Kia’s clients.

Arteta keeping a serious face while he has to convince Willian that he’ll be the star of a Champions League winning Arsenal.

Not going to paste quotes as there’s too many.

Didn’t want to give an expectation for this season.

Last season we suffered with consistency?

Well, at least we fixed that one.

Within the first five seconds of the video he started going on about context and I just turned it off. I can’t take it anymore. Fucking hack.

Shreeves: “If all the players are fit, what do you think this squad should be capable of this season? Is it top four? Is it top six? What’s realistic?”

"I don’t want to go for top four or top six or top eight or top 10. I’m just really looking forward to seeing this squad play together. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone fit.

“I want to see our squad because I don’t see it yet. But I’m really looking forward to it because I believe and Mikel believes that this team can have a good season.”

Arteta’s getting the full season chaps.

In fairness to Mikel the team we’ve been playing in the last few game is trash and a far cry from our best 11. In critique of Mikel and more so Edu, it’s tragic that our depth is that dogshit and borderline negligent to go into the season with that kind of fucking mismatched team starting against 2 of the leagues best and a cagey new competitor to the league.

Saying all that I really am looking forward to seeing our first 11 and new signings in the next few games, especially considering that the football antichrist numero uno is out.

Just read it and fair play to Edu and the club for being open about his work and thought process. I like that engagement with on a somewhat neutral platform where he was pushed on things.

I wanted the thought process on the signings and I got it.

If they’re trying to spray febreze on the window and Arteta the PR roll out has been very good. Alot will be convinced

He’s talking 100 per bollox saying to look at the context and to wait until everyone is available. It’s so rare for any modern team to have everyone uninjured and available at any point in time.

You’re not entitled to such a defence when you have the 6th most expensive squad in the world either.

He’s just mr dodgy backhander man like Raul before him. Needs to be sacked as soon as possible.

I think they’ve invented this plan after the fact. I wouldn’t be inclined to take anything they say at face value.

Who was it that said on here they can’t wait for Edu and Arteta to use the “we haven’t had all our players excuse”? That took long :arteta:
