That doesn’t have to mean much, maybe they just have some better/cheaper options in sight.
I’m just saying if you look at his perfomances here he has shown he can play on a pretty high level and get you a decent amount of goals.
Obviously he’s not good enough to be a starter for a top 4 team, no one even stated that.
Also as said, he’s been shit most of the time when he comes off the bench, but in most of those games he started he was scoring and also looked quite solid allround.
Before the window opened I definitely thought it would be easier to sell him than ESR and we could demand a bigger fee. I still think that, but you never know how the market will move and that doesn’t absolutely define someone’s value/ability.
Come on, you know that is not true.
Playing 70-80 minutes against a team/defenders in 100% energy is totally different from playing in the last 10-15 minutes. Also it depends on the dynamics on the field.
That is why some are starters and some are more suitable for substitution roles.
It’s not nonsene like I said he’s proven he’s a decent backup when used sparingly that is it
It’s a whole other argument to say he is a proven PL striker for a midtable club
And the whole goal ratio argument when we’re talking so little minutes means that it could easily regress if given a larger sample size especially since his finishing is not great at all.
If someone scored at a rate of .52 goals per 90 minutes played it’s absolutely realistic to assume he would score more than 10 goals in a 38 game season.
He literally scored 5 goals in about 10-11 games worth of minutes last season.
Yeah, withouth even going into the calculations, I could hardly imagine him not scoring at least 10 PL goals for basically any PL team if he was staring most games.
Even besides the goals, let’s not forget his allround game has improved massively in the last two years, compared to his early days where he just acted as a poacher.
He’s stronger now, can battle with defenfers, beat them, decent link up… I’d say overall it should definitely be good enough for a midtable team.
Ten goals playing significant minutes even for midtable is quite a lame return tbh
His game is super mid, excels in nothing. He has improved some but even then it’s still average AF
And yes he could do well for a midtable team but is it guaranteed? And what is the definiton of well? Is he definitely doing what Mateta did last season? I’m not bankning on it
His finishing isn’t even a major strength, it’s middling just like the rest of his game.
Premier League level? Yes, he’s played over 100 games. Premier League proven? Not so sure. He’s looked like one of the weakest players at one of the best teams, which would indicate he’d be one of the better players at one of the weaker teams.
Calling Nketiah Prem proven is a little like calling Rob Holding Prem proven. That said, the man has trained with the likes of Ozil and Aubameyang; scored Champions League goals and has turned up for Arsenal at times in the league. Sub 20m pounds is a kick in the face.
Thing with Eddie is that quite often the teams we face are low block, and I don’t think that suits his game.
I can see him doing pretty well at a mid-table premier league club, where he’ll more often have the opportunity to play in more space than the Hubble telescope can see.
Trouble with Eddie is his profile of player is not what modern managers are looking for, especially in the Prem. With the striker shortage right now you’d think someone like Nketiah would be in demand, but in reality his style is very dated. Don’t get me wrong he can still bang a few goals in, but overall he is quite one dimensional.
3 of those against the bottom feeder club in 1 game just to remind. Of course they all count and I don’t think your point is invalid but you are over-selling him a bit.
We all know what he is and what he has shown for us, I think he’ll be fine at a mid-lower prem club but I also reckon he’ll get a season or so of starting then get knocked down the pecking order there as well. Just doesn’t strike me as a guy who can ever be the main man, maybe he’ll prove me wrong on that.
