You want Eze in the gaps and taking up central positions. Versus he Villa ended up too wide and having to dribble into the centre rather than receiving there.
He’s basically been ineffective in every game he’s played this season. He’s had moments and with a little more luck he’d have a couple more goals but I haven’t seen anything that’s been outstanding from him yet.
I think he’s the kind of player who is capable of creating something out of nothing so he’ll be important over the course of the season but I’m not sure he’s ready to displace Odegaard just yet.
At the every least I prefer Odegaard off the ball and also how much he desires getting on it and showing for his team mates.
He’s been pretty underwhelming, but in under 3 months I can say hatrick vs Spurs, point winning and possibly title defining moment against City, 3 points earned vs Palace and an assist vs Bayern.
I’d favour that over what Odegaard has been offering as our attacking midfielder. Funnily enough though, I’ve seen more from Merino than both.
Pretty much. My Palace friends said that’s their biggest criticism of him too. Turns up for half a season, has moments of magic, but it’s never consistent.
Wouldn’t mind seeing him and Ode play together in the two midfield spots. Rice could probably have rested yesterday considering Wolves barely tried anything all game.
Willing to still give him time cause it’s only been a few months but the season is reaching a critical point and we need our big players to contribute. He’s got 6 G+A in 15 league games, of which 3 came in one game against the Scum. So that makes it 4 games he’s truly affected in 15. That’s not great.
