Eberechi Eze (10)

Henry was going hard on this in the sky studio. Kept saying “hes the nine”.

He was brilliant yesterday, but you have to give Foden credit for putting all three goals on a plate for him.

My man had the FIFA sliders on, shot accuracy and power to 100.

He nearly scored a fourt soon after the third byt Vicario made a great save.
He was an absolute demon yesterday.

Interesting. Merino’s movement often left Eze as the furthest forward central player, but calling him the #9 doesn’t make the most sense to me. All Eze’s shots came from positions that are more akin to a second striker

What did the headphones do to deserve that treatment :smiling_face_with_tear:

You couldn’t make this up.

From this perspective you see even more how much skill was involved there.
He’s a world class talent, needs to get that consitensy.

Yep. He can be one of the league’s best players. He’s that good imo.

Certainly Odegaard can play the same role that Eze had on Sunday.
He might not have that kind of shooting, but sure he could benefit from roaming around the field and have the freedom to create chances.
Wondering why he was so limited on some specific areas on the field and had to drop so deep to collect the ball and carried a lot of defensive responsibilities.

Against spurs we played a 4-2-3-1 with Eze playing as almost a second striker. I think that’s where he shines.

Odegaard plays in a single pivot midfield where he’s required to maintain possession as we choke out the opposition and force errors.

Two different midfielders for two different systems.

Was disappointed to see Ebs get hooked as I felt he’d pop up with a late moment.

He was garbage today tbf.

Prime example of when the palace fans said he can go missing.

Dog shit performance. He’s always capable of popping up with a moment but he was rightfully dragged off.

Maybe he’s not used to the 3 games in 7 days life. Even that doesn’t wash though because all three games were in London.

He’s had these kind of consistency issues

These kind of games will always be magnified here rather than at Palace where he went half a season playing quite poorly prior to signing here

He’s always trying things though at the least

Agreed. But I also agree with the point that @Mr_Nostalgia made. He does have moments so he’s handy to be around.

I think it was more of a case of Arteta seeing Chelsea still being threatening on the counter and pulled Merino back to help out.
Another thing is probably his load. Has been playing quite a bit recently which was not used to at Palace.

I felt Odegaard should’ve been on for him at the half. He seems too often to be completely ineffective before he gets into the final third, a lot of balls were just bouncing straight off him in the centre of the pitch today.
