I think this has always happened.
I don’t know who said it but there’s a quote that says “every generation thinks they are better than the previous one and wiser than the next.”
To blame boomers for what they have done to the planet while ignoring the unbelievable levels of consumerism, fuel consumption and waste of this generation seems a bit unfair.
The levels of waste when I was a child was almost nothing but we are now in an age where almost everything is disposable.
But I was no different, my generation thought that the previous one was old fashioned and never stopped moaning about the war and how poor they were.
I certainly agree with this.
Since the start of social media, everyone knows everything that’s going on in the world.
This isn’t a bad thing but before that, people used to express their opinions in a pub or at home and the only other people who listened were the ones who could hear you.
We now have a situation where, if you express what you’re thinking on social media, it’s out there and staying there.
But worse than that, what ever you say can often be construed as offensive by self appointed guardians of the internet, who happen to have a different opinion but a louder voice.
I get exactly what @Stroller is saying.
It’s becoming increasingly difficult to comment on, say DCL wearing a dress, without being labelled homophobic or a bigot.
But, in reality all we’re doing is pointing out what an attention seeking, show off he is.
People that want to stand out from society by doing this sort of thing is absolutely fine but they also have to realise that not everyone is going to fawn all over them and applaud, there will be some that criticise them, which is also fine.

Is it really that hard? I’ve seen quite a lot of people criticise the way he dresses on this very forum, I’ve not seen anyone get labelled a homophobe or a bigot as a result. Did I miss that?

Yeah this forum is really good, like considering that no one really gets censored and people make all kinds of jokes and all kinds of topics get discussed. Yeah We have our moments here with little back and forths but I think considering how hard the last two years have been that’s fine. I wish the rest of the internet was like OA.

I wouldn’t. He’s an impact player (for us) off the bench, we need more than DCL.
Take DCL in January and sign a big time striker in June.

I’d go for him in January as another striker option. My only concern is his injury record. Backup or not, no one wants a player who’s injured all the time.

If DCL came in and done for us at CF what Partey has done for us at CM I’d be over the fucking moon.
No come on. If we signed him in either window he’s going to be seen as a big signing.
I think where in dream land signing him in January and another big signing in the summer. Much as we would all like that.

Yeh I feel like this would be one of our biggest January signings ever, other than maybe Auba.
He’d be costing us as much as someone like Vlahovic so no way we’re going out looking for another big name striker for a while if we land DCL.

An impact player with who in the first XI?
Lacazette? Nketiah? Balogun?
Assuming we even do buy a top class striker in the summer/future, he would absolutely be more than a bench player. He’d give us the opportunity to play in a completely different way for different opponents. And even from the bench I’d be much happier with DCL coming in than Nketiah (if he’s even still here).
Plus if we’re in the CL, (or even El), we’re not going through a season without the 2nd choice striker player a significant amount of games.
He’s young, English, and has a build that’s always going to keep him in demand to sustain his value.
With Auba, Laca and Nketiah all presumably moving on this summer we need two strikers who are good enough for regular game time. Balogun isn’t yet, and you’re not likely to find anyone who is for much less than we’d pay for DCL anyway.

I do think people are sleeping on what he brings to the table, great physique and really athletic not clumsy - dude scored a half overhead against us of all people. We’ll finally have a bit more of an option on the ground too with his pace and power.
I think Arteta and Edu have been devilishly clever in the transfer market lately, everyone crying about Varane hype while we sweep in for White, now Varane looks expensive, old and error prone and White is the backbone of our defense for the next few years.
No guarantees in football but I’d genuinely take DCL over Vlahoivic who I can honestly say I’ve never watched outside youtube, at the very least I believe the former would want to be here and come hungry with a point to prove. I also think the transition wouldn’t take long as we have a very likeable and solid group of British lads, not to mention Odegaard, both Gabriels and Tomiyasu seems like really easy going blokes to be around.

People on the fence should watch a bit of this, it’s not a dogshit skill desapcito remix that makes him look a god just every goal. Shows the expanse to his goal scoring ability to be honest. Really nice blend of traditional and modern number 9.
He’s also getting goals against the like of Pool, United, us, Spurs etc which is impressive when you realize Iwobi is the one supplying him. Doesn’t shy away in those games.

Yeah, I’m still not a big fan but rewatching some of his goals, paying attention to his movement and also listening to what he said on MNF it’s clear that his movement is very calculated.
That’s someone Mikel could coach. Considering how extensive our scouting was this summer I do trust Mikel and co. to pick the right player. Mikel probably has a lot of connections in Everton to know what this guy is about too.
