Just because we’re not going to broke doesn’t mean that money ill spent doesn’t set us back. Xhaka and Mustafi set us back greatly, and neither were exorbitant fees in this market. Even shit like Mkhitaryan and Lucas Pérez represent setbacks. But yeah, always better to spend important money on a 20 yr old than a 23-24 year old, more likely to have some sell-on value and want to give their career more chances if it stalls out at your club and they’re not good enough.
