David Raya (22)

I can understand it being discussed, but the narrative from some folk is a bit overeactionary. e.g. Schmeicel last night, perhaps it’s just because he’s a goalie tho.

Navas and Courtois. Even then there was a clear hierarchy

It’s Brighton. Jason Steele and Van…whatever his name is. Not really noteworthy tbh

And Navas left a year after Courtois joined (that’s what many forget/ignore).

No top GK wants to rot on the bench.

I expect the same scenario with Ramsdale.

Even Raya was not brought here as #1, he is definitely good enough to challenge Ramsdale.
To give Raya the chance to challenge Ramsdale, is to give him the game time to prove.

Still, only two starts for Raya, too early to say who is #1 and who is #2.
Too early to tell and write off Ramsdale.

Indeed. That’s why many expected Ramsdale to at least get Champions League games. The fact he didn’t tells you it’s a demotion.

Bayern and Chelsea link could deffo be legit. Chelsea because they’ll give any man an 8 year contract. For Bayern, a lot will depend on Neuer’s recovery. tbc

Neuer is not going to recover 100%.
Even if he does, he is already on his way hanging up his boots…

They definitely need a long term goalie.

Exactly what happened Joe Hart and Claudio Bravo before Ederson came.

Without tryingto shit on him personally…
But considering he’s rated as the new Buffon after 2 games he literally had nothing to do in…

He’s doing very poor today.

Absolutely had to do better on that cross leading to their goal. A very very weak reaction. You could say he’s the most responsible for that goal.

Also the save before the goal gets owerblown, as I expected. It’s always nice to see a goallie fully stretched in a situatiom like that… but I’d expect EVERY first choice GK in the league to save that. The strike had no power in it. A warm up save.

True it was a scuffed shot that went off the Spurs player’s trailing leg. A truer connection goes in, but still a good save.

well said.

Although I think Ramsdale is really good and I think Raya is really good as well, both are and I’m happy we have both if we can keep them. Another way of putting is that I think both are good enough for us to achieve our long term goals.

That was not a straight forward save at all, lmao.

Certainly not every first choice keeper saves that. Had multiple players obstructing his view as well.

Blame him for the goal we conceded. I think he was very much responsible in that but that was a fantastic save regardless.

He should have paried it out for corner.
Maybe that’s hindsight.

Great save prior to that though

Sure.

But I think it’s beyong laughable (it’s retarded tbh) people concluded he’s undoubtedly better than Ramsdale after two games where he had literally almost nothing to do lol.

First proper game and he makes a huge mistake.
Wouldn’t even mention if it weren’t for those comments before.

Weak as fuck on that cross. Not impressed with his distribution today either

As a Ramsdale fan I see where you’re coming from but at the same time I don’t fault fellow fans from being hyped about a new signing. so yeah something in between.

Not a massive upgrade on Ramsdale.

Ramsdale will be back in next weekend lol

We’ll probably end up with both keepers agitating for a move and then Heinze will finally get his chance lol

Inauspicious.

Ramsdale in.

Even if we do have keeper issies, I’m not sure we should be throwing a retired left back in goal tbh
