David Raya (1)

This will get done. Brentford’s asking price must have dropped significantly.

Spurs and Bayern in the mud lol.

Fixed :jorginho:

The cream always rises to the top. Whoever performs at a higher and more consistent level will undoubtedly be Arsenal number one by the end of the season.

Pressure is pressure, you either thrive or you crumble at this level so may the best man win.

We won’t be able to hold both guys for longer than a season though. But I can’t imagine a season as Arsenal number two will have a dramatic impact on withers guys value if we have another good campaign.

The reason why we are after Raya…

If we can sell Turner for 10-15m and get Rsya for 20-25m, with wages roughly similar, it’s great business.

Any less than £15m is bad business in my eyes. Turner is an established international.

Got a feeling it will be a disgusting fee like we got for Leno.

We paid $6m rising to $10m

Has to be more than that whatever happens

Now that would be good business indeed. Get a nice chunk of change from selling Turner.

Raya will be our #1 by the end of the season. He’s the better fit in our system by quite a distance. There is no competition when it comes to playing out from the back. And the GK coach loves him. He’s an excellent all round keeper.

Ramsdale has the “how the fuck did he save that” quality but Raya isn’t exactly a shitter in that regard.

The only uncertainty I have is whether Ramsdale goes up another level because of the competition. He’s got that in his character.

But I’m still backing Raya to come out on top.

Bye bye Ramsdale

Think it will be £5m in total.

I don’t think this is the end for Ramsdale. I do think Raya is a better GK, but hopefully they both push eachother to get better. Raya will be ideal for knockout games though.

Big upgrade on Turner. Upgrade on Rambo? Remains to be seen.

Never underestimate the stigma associated with US footballers though. I realize there’s a bit of a legacy of American keepers in England doing alright but I’d be shocked if we get a decent fee for him.

So the 20+5m bid is close to what they want. I presume we’ll be selling Turner for around £15m.
So all this crying was for nothing.

As I said it before, we weren’t paying £40m for Raya.

All in all, it looks yet another astute piece of business from Arsenal. There in interest in our Turner, our current #2keeper. There is an opportunity in the market to buy Raya, who the club values very highly for a cut price, so they will grant the sale of Turner once the club is confident of securing Raya.

That’s £5-10m for an upgrade that will genuinely compete with Ramsdale, is familiar already with the way we play and will offer zero drop-off in case we miss Ramsdale. He is also an asset that can be moved for more for a good fee in the future if needed.

The only crying was that it was a guarantee he’d replace ramsdale, which clearly isn’t the case in a 10m net fee to upgrade your depth scenario.

Ramsdale gonna keep this guy on the bench anyway just good in case he gets injured and will keep him on his toes.

Very shrewd business no matter who wins out the #1 spot

Love to see it from the club
