Ramsdale was brilliant last season, no way does this dude just replace him. Ramsdale is the better keeper as well.

I guess Ramsdale will play PL and Raya will get CL and cups, if this goes through.
Having checked the stats on the most sophisticated scouting software suite available, Football Manager 2023, Ramsdale is slightly better than Raya.

Weāve gone a long way from Wenger only signing Cech for 10m, to buying a back up GK for 40m and the 200m weāve already spent on top quality players.
Brilliant is a bit strong. He was slightly above average with some flaws.

I donāt like this really. Ramsdale has his limitations but by no means is he incompetent to be starting for us.
Itās not like weāre stealing Allisson or Ederson away from a rival, or a GK thatās an immediate āupgradeā that shuffles Ramsdale out of the line up. And without slamming Raya, both him an Ramsdale are on par overall I think.
Ā£40M~ and a very high potential to upset the apple cart seems self-sabotage to me.

The only thing I can think is that the club have seen enough from Turner over the last year to have no confidence he can replicate our style of play at the back in a way thatās acceptable if we want to challenge for the league and CL.
So they want a ball playing keeper and think Raya is getable because of his contract situation.

If and itās a big āifā we sign Raya then we have got to win some silverware this season to justify this type of transfer.

40 million is a lot of money . Iād personally put that money towards getting Ivan Toney despite his ban .
