The only reason those cash reserves were so high at the end of last year was because of profits on player sales. If, as expected, Arsenal posts about a £40 to 50 million operating loss this year on the back of a 2018 window with no appreciable player sales, that takes a big chunk away. Miss the Champions League again and you’re pretty much up shit creek. Sure, clubs outside the top 6 mostly don’t have that much cash. But they don’t have Arsenal’s wage bill and commitments either.

The reason we’re out of the CL is because we have 250m in the bank rather than on the pitch.
This is why it’s a false economy.
What are we saving all this money for?
We might have loads of players but take away the strikers and there is very little top quality and this is why we’ve been out of the top four for so long.
What other club would sit on that amount of money, knowing that there is a desperate need for better players?

Willock, Smith-Rowe, Saka and probably Martinelli too will predominantly be u-23 players. Especially if everybody remains healthy. But Arsenal can do without one or two centre backs.

Asensio is a winger and Ceballos is a CM, don’t see how the two are connected. If anything, Bale might get to enjoy the Madrid sunshine for another year.

I figured Ceballos can operate as an attacking midfielder so if Asensio gets injured for the season then Ceballos can be an easy fix. Not like for like but easier for Madrid than buying a new player
