5-1 The Arsenal.

Balogun gets his first start of the season and scores a brace before being subbed off in the 3rd quarter, and rested for the playoffs.

A flurry of goals towards the end of the game: Pepe finding the net to put him in the shop window at Dollar Tree. Ethan Nwaneri with the 4th, confirming his starting position in place of Saka, who no longer makes the match day squad. David Raya, starting at false nine, since Arteta wants to keep both GKs happy, scores on his debut.

Consolation goal from Vince Hilaire towards the end of 67 minutes of added time. Three points in the bag, but attending fans miss the last train home.

That’s a name from the past ! Vince Hilaire
Good player .

Looking forward to this. Laughed a lot at the likes of Newcastle, Man Utd and Chelsea this weekend. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite me.

Interesting to see how Mikel addresses the absence of Timber and who he will pick to play up front.

My team of preference would be:
Ramsdale
White-Saliba-Gabriel-Zinchenko
Odegaard-Partey-Rice
Saka-Havertz-Martinelli

This is pretty much our strongest lineup from last season with Rice in for Xhaka and Havertz in for Jesus.

Gonna be a physical match, having all of Partey, Rice and Havertz could prove crucial. The return of Zinchenko will raise the technical level of our build-up.

Not sure id choose Havertz up front in place of a true striker
Id be starting Eddie

I can see Palace frustrating the Arsenal tonight , a game behind closed doors last week shows Arteta doesn’t know what formation to play or what his best team is .
Gotta be careful tonight. Palace are a funny ol’team

Ramsdale

White - Saliba - Gabriel - Zinchenko

Odegaard - Partey - Rice

Saka - Eddie - Martinelli

Swap Havertz with Partey and I think youve got it spot on

Yep. 3 points

What makes you think Partey won’t start?

I think its very defensive minded with Rice and Partey, and not sure Mikel will want to go that defensive away at Palace.

Feels like ages since I watched the Arsenal. Looking forward to the match. COYG :red_circle:

Doesn’t really have to be defensive at all. Rice showed he can play very high up the pitch, break up play in higher positions, get himeslf into dangerous areas etc.
Basically what Xhaka did last season, just much better (the finishing is not there yet).

Generally I think it will be hard to predict the lineups this season, at least at the start, considering how flexible we can be with many players able to take in different roles.

The lineup @SRCJJ posted isn quite likely, except for Zinchenko. If he isn’t ready than it’s surely Havertz instead of him, with Partey and Rice as the double pivot. Actually I think Havertz starts, seems Arteta likes him quite a lot.

Absolutely, think I said this recently

I think Havertz is the Xhaka replacement, but itll be very difficult to see what Mikel will do game on game with the options he now has available to him

Don’t think that we will lose this, but I’m expecting a very difficult evening at Selhurst.

Doubt it had anything to do with that. These behind closed doors games when the season starts are quite common. Happened last year as well, I think it happened last December too after the WC.

It’s usually a game for the backup players to get some game time before the season starts.

Work straight after the game.

Don’t make me go to work in a CUNT of a mood Arsenal.
