Maybe the outcome is not as good as they expected, but CR7 going back to United made more sense than joining the rival City.
It was an issue in the Serie A too. He made Juventus look disjointed and had players like Dybala playing out of position to accommodate him. Not to mention his lack of pressing and just basically being a goal scorer and nothing more was killing them.
His penalty goals tally kind of makes his figures a bit deceiving too.
I don’t think it does apart from the fact he has history with United.
City would mask his deficiencies much better than United would.
Therefore, I think he went back to United was not because of trophies.
For sure, they were the only ones in for him after City pulled out
