They did those kind of schemes in Australia also.
There’s already a five hundred pounds payment people can get if they need to isolate but can’t WFH etc, don’t see this as much different. I doubt there are loads of people out there now trying to force a situation where they have to self isolate in order to claim this money.
I don’t see why it’s a bad idea. You need to support people to isolate. And if cases weren’t rocketing like they have in the past month then it probably wouldn’t cost much either. This would have been a very sensible thing to do alongside functional testing and tracing.

All the replies and quote tweets to that tweet are people laughing and saying they’d happily catch it for £500.
It just seems backwards to me. Everything the govt do is months too late and just seems silly in isolation when you look at the things they haven’t done.

What if someone has to isolate because you’ve been in contact with someone who had it? They’re more likely to be breaking isolation than someone who knows they have Covid and possibly are quite unwell.

Know people have done this .Asked friends not to name them on track and trace because of overtime opportunities.

What about inflation at the moment we are not producing anything and the economy is in free fall. Printing money from thin air will devalue the £ further till it’s worth nothing. Slowly we will crawl to a Zimbabwe/Venezuela situation where bread with cost £50 thus making peoples lives harder in the long run. I’m not sure why anyone thinks this is a good idea.
I did not think the virus is going anywhere it’s a novel virus like the flu or cold. SARS is still around or should I say covid 02 some of you guys maybe to young to remember that covid outbreak

After a quick Google, there hasn’t been a case of SARS in humans since 2004. For now, it has been eradicated in humans.

I think that’s how the nomenclature works. It’s a bit like naming weather systems alphabetically. For example, the first storm in a year would be named with an A (Storm Anna, for instance) and works its way through the alphabet as different storms hit us in the year.
My understanding is this is the 19th COVID (not to be confused with COVID-19 strains) and SARS was effectively COVID-2, or whatever number @ryaninho had assigned to it.

Where very vague on being questioned yesterday the scientists on the Israeli claim on the 12 weeks being under protected. Storm is a brewing here which is going too have a detrimental effect on people.

COVID-19 = CoronaVirusDisease-2019
It makes sense for SARS to be COVID-2 as SARS was identified in 2002 I.e. CoronaVirusDisease-2002.
It’s my understanding the number is the year of discovery.

Apologies, it seems the strain is called SARS-Cov and that in turn causes a disease called COVID-19.
