No real correct answer to this. People have different coping mechanisms unique to themselves. Some find the distraction of a job helpful, some prefer space and time to themselves to process it, then also those that just simply don’t know what to do in a situation like this.

When I was 19, my uncle (who lived with us at the time) committed suicide and I went to work the next day. It was definitely better than sitting around at home and helped me take my mind off it all.

I’ve gone through quite a few deaths in my family when I was young as well.
I’ve had occasions where they tried make me carry on with my stuff at the time, not be around all the mourning and maybe it worked on the day but reflecting on it makes me feel really shitty about it.
I feel like you have to be near the ones you love and support them, even if it’s painful on you.
I dunno, maybe it’s too deep a subject to discuss on OA. I usually try to keep it football here so apologies for being a downer.
