I’ve got no problem with them going for these type of moves, as long as that prevents them (it won’t) from trying to follow our coat tails on the targets we want.
You can definitely see a scenario of say Arsenal activating Williams’ release clause and then these muppets catching whiff of this and offering him a fifteen year deal.
So they have Madueke, Neto, Palmer, Estevao and now Quenda that best operate in that right half space.
I’m sure they have another 5 players on the books that I’m forgetting too.
Twickenham holds more than 80k so Chelsea supporters will have a couple of seats each, which is ideal for them because when the football gets too boring, they can have a lie down,
He’s trying to call for Arteta’s head for finishing 2nd and used the argument about us spending a lot of money, she tries to add context to the money we spent by saying 700m over 6 years ain’t that much, he insists it is and then tells him about Chelsea spending a billion in one year and then he’s starts waffling about transitioning periods.
We are back amongst the elite, and competing. Trophies are needed but to say there’s not much to show for it is silly. Would you rather we didn’t spend and regressed even further?
£700m over half a decade is nothing in this day and age.
I get it the whole progress argument and returning back to being a respected opponent.
However, I am not a stakeholder. I have stopped giving fucks about progress to be honest.
I have been as miserable this season as I was when we were fighting for 4th spot.
For me as a fan, 2nd amounts to nothing and is same as 15th.
Sure, in terms of determining whether we win the PL. However, the journey element is still important and we have at least shown the ability to progress towards being a contender. One alternative is we don’t do this and instead purely hope to win without building a framework to do so, and consistently.
Like you and many others, I do have some reservations about where we go from here/if we go up from here but it’s nice to at least be in a position where this is our key concern as opposed to whether we might make CL spots again etc. I think that at least deserves some recognition.
