Chelsea

the fuck?

Chelsea not taking it serious at all lol

Well that ‘21 players to work with’ lasted long.

Really wish they get smashed by Jolabola FC on the opening day.

Lol is Maresca even the manager or just the guy with the FIFA licence signing the paperwork.

There really should be a lot more people out there calling them out on this.

I think someone posted it already but did anyone read that James Olley piece on ESPN? It’s really just a list of their madness…

Anyway, this bit caught me:

Sources close to Clearlake argue that these deals are evidence of their policy working as intended. The average Premier League wage is £72,000 a week. Chelsea’s is now around £60,000 a week thanks to their change in approach. One source added that this £60k figure is down from around £200,000 a week, which they inherited from the previous ownership

How could this be remotely true with Reece James and Sterling on nearly half a million between them a week even after you discount what we are contributing. I know he’s saying they said it but i don’t think it should have been given any air.

Bringing up the average salary seems cooking the books/misdirection. Let’s see that total wage bill that includes all the players shall we?

Not that hard to believe considering they’ve got 50 players on the books.

Now tell us their total wage bill, that’s where we laugh

It is though. Who are they after signing on 5/10 grand a week to make that average work?

I’m sure Mudryk is one £180K p/w too. There has to be a few of the first team players, the likes of Enzo/Caicedo for example that are all on £100K+ p/w.

Mr. Olley doing some bootlicking here.

They’re probably including the kit man and security staff, as well as all the players. :grinning:

Agree. The number of employees far outweighs the number of players at any major club. So, it’s fairly easy to bring that average figure down to real world proportions.

Chelsea may once again be ‘FOR SALE’ as both co-owners - Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali - weigh up selling their stakes after just three years at the helm.

All part of the plan.

Isn’t this what you thought was risky with them selling off Chelsea’s hotels?

Yea the less the club owns and the more beholden what’s left is to another entity (especially if that’s who you’re buying off) the less attractive that club is going to be. Not the hotel specifically but i think they did the training ground too?

Now that i think about it, if one is buying the other out that stuff will probably all be included and then maybe they can do it again? :man_shrugging:

My personal conspiracy theory is that they must have figured out that it wouldn’t have been possible to build a new stadium because really, what American owners want, is to be in the real estate business like Stan. Because it doesn’t actually matter if your on-field product is shit, you’re still hosting Chappell Roan concerts.

According to Skysports, Clearlake aren’t going to sell their stake and are willing to buy the Boehly’s stake. So, no change in ownership really, only the fat American might be on his way out.

Ah so the young player purchase was just to increase the asset value.

Who’d have thought that an American businessman like Boehly didn’t buy Chelsea because of the thrill of owning a PL football club but rather saw them simply as a money making machine?
