Random thought but these Chelsea shenanigans remind me of what’s going on with the Red Lobster seafood restaurant chain here in the U.S. (not sure if they have them abroad).

They got bought out by a private equity firm that sold the physical properties for all the store locations to themselves and turned around and rented the spaces back to the restaurant chain.

Now they’re loading the company with debt which will probably pay for golden parachutes for the board of investors while the company will (already has) gone into bankruptcy (administration).

Wouldn’t be far fetched that this is the Clear Lake strategy. Treat Chelsea like a distressed department store or restaurant chain :joy:

They already sold the hotel to themselves.

All is well on earth.

I mean you have to ask questions about this transfer from when Chelsea spent £13m on a player who scored 3 goals in nearly 100 games for Santos as a winger and then spent a season on loan at Chelsea’s sister club in France and didn’t score a single goal in 21 appearances and now he’s managed to command a £19m transfer fee.

So he’s cost clubs £32m in the space of 12 months and in 153 professional games has scored 5 goals.

Now I know he’s young, but that transfer absolutely screams corruption from the off lol

At this point, it’s just a money pipeline operation and nothing more. I can imagine the initial talks with the player’s agents to be completely money orientated with little to no talk about how they are developed etc. Join a PL club with ties to sister club + Saudi and hopefully on board the gravy train.

What a sad and pathetic feeling it must be to be a lifelong supporter and see your team amount to this.

Wasn’t there some connection between the new Chelsea owners and PIF(the Saudi wealth fund)?

Isn’t that how they shifted all those players last summer?

Yeah, there was that’s how they got rid of Kouliably Kante and Mendy

Tbf, this Angelo kid is highly rated.
Saudi offers two “free” foreigner spots for talent born in 2003 or later so Chelsea were able to leverage that.
Benfica were able to cash in on Marcos Leonardo(sold him to Al-Hilal for 40m after signing him in January from Santos and him barely playing for them) due to the same reason.

We should have done the same with Marquinhos.

Highly rated by who mate?

His agent lol

Brazilians.
He was the next big talent coming out of Santos, they were drawing comparisons with Neymar.
Probably why Chelsea signed him but then they signed that Estevao kid so this guy was doomed.
Mind you, you know how it goes over there. Everyone’s the next Pele, Cafu, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and so on and they usually never live up to the hype.

Edit:

Santos wonderkid who has earned Neymar and Pele comparisons

LMAO. Without fail.

Come on lol. He’s got absolutely 0 end product and went 50 games without scoring a goal. I don’t even need to watch him to know this deal was corrupt from the get go. Maybe he was highly rated at 15 but when Chelsea signed him he was already a certified scrub.

“A poor run of form and a lengthy goal drought saw him draw the ire of some sections of Santos’ support back in April, and although he has found the net since, Angelo is struggling to hold down a starting place.”

As touched upon already, as an attacking player, his end product is a glaring area for improvement.

He recently endured a goal drought of more than 50 games which he only ended in May as he netted in back-to-back league matches. That led his manager Hellmann to urge him to keep shooting on the training ground “until his legs swelled”.

The whole loan out to sister club is so unethical anyway

What happened with that other Brazilian dude(another one from Santos coincidentally) that was gonna join Strasbourg and then it collapsed?

Edit:

Oh.

The striker was ready to do his medical, but he soon found out that Chelsea had cancelled the move because the Premier League and FIFA raised concerns over the transfer, as the two clubs involved in the transaction are owned by BlueCo, per ESPN

I don’t actually buy into any of the Brazilian hype jobs btw.
For every Vinicius there are a thousand Gabigols.

There’s a good reason why the Brazil NT is in the state that it currently is.

My Chelsea mate sent me the following this morning:

“I see Chelsea fans have gone woke, this used to be Adolf Hitler”

:joy:

She fits the Chelsea profile better.
Thatcher was a right wing racist and a true blue.

Doesn’t sound like a very elite mentality they have going on over there.
