Chelsea

Dare I say they played better with youngsters?
At least going forward.

He should stop wasting his time with Havertz and Auba.

Yea, no. I just don’t think they’ll do it next weekend. You need a poll on timeframe for him to be sacked to get a read on this really.

Be funny if they do it right after the window ends like they did with Tuchel actually.

Two games in a row that Chelsea looked better after introducing youth.

Potter will get time because the new owners seem enamoured by the way Arteta has managed to rebuild Arsenal without realising it’s been a team effort built on a foundation of trust and meticulous squad building in the transfer market.

He’s about to sign his 500th player of the second transfer window and I’d be willing to bet not a single one of those players was run by either manager Chelsea have had this season.

This now means Chelsea can’t lose the final for the 4th year in a row to a 4th different team

It also took a lot of patience from the fanbase.

I just don’t know if Chelsea is the right club to embark on a “project” build. They are what they are.

Tuchel will come back and they will win the CL.

Chelsea have never built a team in the PL.
Every trophy they’ve won has been bought and paid for by their owner.

You could maybe argue they had a core of solid English players (plus that scrub Mason Mount) during their transfer ban that came through. But yeah, other than that it’s always been bought.

They’ve let players like Christensen, Tomori and Abraham leave. All three start at the moment. Billy Gilmour and Gallaghervare probably not good enough. James and Mount are quality and the youngsters bar Hutchinson have looked impressive recently.

Chelsea won’t build up around youth through. They are a cheque book club.

I don’t think it’s a case of Potter not being able to manage egos. More the fact ch💩lsea have an absurd and preposterous clown of an owner.

That being said, I don’t rate Potter as anything special. He lucked out by being picked up by a well run club in B&HA, as opposed to the circus that is cuntsea.

I was really fooled by Gallagher. He seemed a handy player for Palace. Maybe that was just his level? But it is tough because their whole setup just looks rotten right now from the owner on down.

Further on in this thread the writer mentioned Clearlake’s plan for a multiclub model which I totally forgot about. They want to be CSG or Red Bull but so far it seems like they’re Watford/Udinese.

Bad decision by Potter taking this job. He won’t have the time to shape his own team. Chelsea want instant success.

I think Boehly’s instinct would be to be patient with Potter. Its normal in American sports culture to have bad seasons or rebuilding years, you don’t expect to be at the top every year. As long as you have a good multi-year plan you often stick with a new coach going through a bad season.

But I can see Chelsea supporters forcing his hand unless the league form improves significantly in the spring. At Chelsea if you finish 8th-10th heads are supposed to roll.

Finishing out of Europe might also pose some problems for Chelsea in terms of finances and squad management. They’ve already got a lot of first team players and want to sign a bunch of new ones. Having 30 first team players without being in Europe is a recipe for discontent, half the team isn’t getting any minutes.

The bigger issue is what do they do if they sack Potter now.
The real question of backing on him is how much input does he have on this window and going forward.
It’s a strong League again and regardless of who tney bring in they can’t really launch a turnaround challenge this season now.
The loss yesterday really compounds the season trophy wise.
The CL is too big this season. Some how he has to find away to impose some degree of style or personality on this team.

They’ve kinda backed themselves into a corner here.
Paid heftily for his services and poached majority of the people be used to work with at Brighton.

If they sack him it would be one of the worst managerial appointments in recent years.
