I donât really get Danâs point there, what is different about what Chelsea do vs other clubs? Most clubs donât formally and publicly announce what theyâd actually sell a player for, and most clubs will only sell a player if a bid is made that matches (or nearly matches) their valuation of their player.
There was someone in OA who never rated Robert Sanchez. I remember having a debate with them about it.
Well, fair play. Must have missed something.
It was damning that he got dropped for Jason Steele but Brighton are actively trying to get him out, even on loan.
Their scouting team is doing an excellent job, and the coaching staff is equally impressive, they should be able to maitain the current setup for a couple or more years with their sales generated revenue.
I look forward to their process coming to its natural conclusion in a few years when they get relegated whilst everyone else says âRemember when everyone thought they were the model to follow?â
Actually I think they havenât done a good job this summer regarding their policy of developement, transfer strategy, whatever you call it.
They knew they were losing MacAllister and, highly likely, Caicedo too, before the season ended. Even De Zerbi spoke about it.
They shouldâve been prepared to get some proper signings in by the time they were negotiating the Caicedo deal.
They actually did get some players in before those left (Sanchez left also) but atm itâs definitely not enough.
Atm theyâre coping pretty well having lost two key midfielders⌠But itâs an absolute shame and a faliure on their board (not from De Zerbi because he was always publicly pushing for reinforcements) not to strenghten their squad more this summer. Even more so knowing how much money they got on transfers in the past few years overall.
Theyâre still playing great football, they have one of the best managers in the league. With a couple of proper signings to add to this squad I think they would have a big chance to get top 4 this season. No matter how good theyâre playing atm, they simply wont have enough numbers to push to the end of the season, but also they shouldâve pushed to add some proper quality in their starting XI with the money they have now.
Iâm not sure they will have the same chance next season, with many clubs lurking around De Zerbi. He could lose his patience too.
Idk if theyâre still trying to get Kudus? They should be able to get a proper alternative if thatâs off. No excuses. They should be able to get two players of that stature/profile (age, talent, potential, price).
I agree.
Also, if they donât strengthen, players like Mitoma, Ferguson, Estupinan, Gross, Ensico, March, etc, will want to move to bigger clubs their talent deserves.
Although theyâve bought Pedro, Milner and a few others, itâs not enough, especially after selling around 300m of top level players like, Caicedo, McAlister, White, Trossard, Sanchez, Bissouma, Cucurella, etc, in recent seasons.
Brighton are loaded so if they want to keep their top players and manager they need to invest because if they want to challenge for a top four place and do well in Europe, they need quality in depth.
But whoever is in charge of their recruitment and scouting has done an unbelievable job so perhaps they should be our next signing.
I think he couldâve gone already if he wanted to already. He seems keen to stay for whatever reason. Every time he talks he sounds like someone fully committed to Brighton in the foreseeable future.
Thatâs why I think City is probably his destination. I think discussions have already taken place on him succeeding Pep there.
