AJ looked nervous in the latter rounds, think he was shocked that Usyk didn’t run out of gas.
Personally this is much better for the division, nice to have someone move up division and look like the real deal.
I’m shook by how great that fight was. When the heavy weight division is competitive the sport is at its most healthy
Usyk - Fury will be intriguing. If it happens.
Why’s Harry Kane translating?
I was thinking the same thing. As if he was waiting for that footwork to slow down in the second half of the fight, and when they didn’t it was like oh sh-
AJ has a rematch clause, so he’ll have to fight Usyk again. But this was so dominant, I think the rematch might go the same way.
What else is AJ going to do? Wait for the winner of Wilder/Fury?
Usyk says he’s not thinking about the rematch yet lol which is fair enough
AJ is washed.
Didn’t even congratulate Usyk. What a sore loser.
AJ has stunk the place out for quite a few fights now. People still buy into the hype and pay big bucks for the tickets though. I wonder if that starts to die off a little after tonight.
I don’t see him beating Usyk, Wilder or Fury. Barring some miraculous comeback, he’s done.
You are spot on. The only thing left is to milk the cow a little more if he can get the fury or wilder fight but will the public interest be there now? Payday for fury but nothing in it for him from a sporting pov if aj has no title.
I fancy him to come back from this, tonight was somewhat ironically an eye opener for him. He’s had it far too easy for too long and his over the top walk ins have been getting more and more ostentatious. Maybe this will bring him back to his foundations a little because what I liked about him when he first started was his humble nature, he’s still a phenomenal athlete and he can absolutely bounce back if he gets his head right.
Still though all credit to Usyk, what an absolute masterclass tonight, you know you’re unreal when you don’t even give the judges a chance to rob you. Super intelligent fighter and outside maybe one round he looked in control of the entire fight.
Fought the wrong fight tonight, should have come to rumble rather than box and got schooled in the process !?
This seems like a major exaggeration tbh. Usyk can outbox anyone and could very well be the most skilled heavyweight in the world at the moment. Maybe the tactics were wrong but AJ against Fury or Wilder is a different conversation.
AJ felt and seen the result of taking a big hit against Ruiz and been playing it safe ever since. He’s not gonna outbox usyk in the rematch so has no option but to risk it.
I was pretty surprised at how many people were sleeping on Usyk before the fight and more so at the expectation that the longer it went, the more it would be in favour of AJ. Even at his light 16 stone, it’s a huge requirement on his large muscle mass to endure a good pace across 12 rounds.
In saying that I must admit I was surprised in the manner Usyk won yesterday. I thought it was pretty damn dominant and a lot wider than what general consensus was. AJ can definitely win the rematch but it’s going to require some pretty major transitions in the plan. He needs a good holiday and break before he reflects and gets back to work.
Fantastic fight and huge respect to both fighters. Both are champs
Would I be being too simplistic to say Usyk wouldn’t be able to beat Fury based on the height and reach advantage?
Yep. You could see he was scared to let the right go because he knew Usyk could counter and hurt him at any time.
Personally, I said beforehand that Usyk is a master boxer and AJ would struggle. There isn’t a better boxer in the heavyweight division. I still think AJ steamrolls Fury but Usyk is just so good.
Usyk is a master boxer and take nothing away from him, his execution was 10/10. Nobody in the division comes close to him in terms of skill set.
