AJ got the shit beat out of him

Lot to be learned from the case of AJ. Firstly how short a prime is in boxing but also what a massive hype job this bloke has been in this sport. And the fact this guy said Dubois’s shit in the corner after he got battered pillar to post by him showcases his arrogance and delusion. He looked absolutely shit in this fight.

Matchroom is hype job central. They’ve been run ragged by Queensbury of late in head to heads. The machine got behind a huge money maker that’s it. Cash cow has been fully milked now. He’s never been half as good as the hype suggested.

So nobody is going to credit Dubois? That was brilliant. Didn’t give AJ a moments rest.

Stupid post. He’s a two time heavyweight champion and former unified champion how can you call him a fraud :joy:

I was there. Horrible performance. Soon as that right clipped him in round one he never recovered. Looked awful in there. Just constantly timed again and again and again with that jab and fighting with his hands low.

Embarrassing performance. Should hang them up after that.

Dubois sent AJ to the shadow realm.

Now we wait for Fury/Usyk II to see who he fights next.

Damn…

That’s spot on

Cry more

He used to be quite a classy bloke but seemed to lose all that “sheen” of a character with his belt throwing shenanigans.

Credit to Dubois. Legitimately had a case against Usyk and now confidently and against the odds made a mockery of AJ.

Hype job? Everybody knew what AJ was. A good right hand, lots of power but largely fights straight with no lateral movement and no real head movement.

Olympic medalist
2x unified heavyweight champion

He had an excellent career. He will be remembered as the third best heavyweight of ibis generation.

This is the real problem. That when someone loses in boxing they’re “a fraud” or “a hype job” and that’s why fighters have spent years avoiding each other. Because fans are so quick to rip into them when they lose.

I fought it was a horrible and arrogant performance and he got what he deserved but he wasn’t a hype job. He was a limited boxer who did damn well to get as far as he did.

Deontay Wilder was a hype job. He had an extremely padded and protected record and his shortcomings got massively exposed every single time he stepped up.

But to call AJ a hype job when he run through and beat more top 10 heavyweights than any of the other guys of his era is a bad take.

And don’t get me wrong I’m guilty of calling out guys for being exposed too so I know I’m being a hypocrite but I just think AJs flaws are so well known that everybody knew what they got with him.

Fucking AJ lol. This guy was sticking out his tongue out to the fans one round before Dubois sent him packing.

He embarrassed himself by trying to constantly play it cool. I was at the stadium so wasn’t privy to what was being said between rounds but you could see him try and play it off how badly hurt he was.

I think he made it so much worse by trying to act like Dubois wasn’t killing him lol

He never really recovered from that first round.

The classic sign of someone who knows they are being beat.

When that type of behaviour is out of the norm for a fighter, it’s because they know it’s going downhill fast and they have this almost desperation to portray themselves as someone who is in control.

Nope. He has awful recovery.

When Fury got stopped (but the referee saved him) against Usyk he recovered his legs a lot quicker.

At this weight, when guys are throwing bombs at you with this power if you can’t recover from being dropped you’re always one shot away from disaster.

Very bizarre approach from Davison too. AJ threw next to no power punches. His hands were constantly low. He kept getting timed by Dubois jab and that overhand right was there for Dubois all night.

I don’t know if they didn’t adjust out of arrogance or couldn’t adjust because AJ simply didn’t recover.

Maybe a bit of both?

I think they expected to be on the front foot. For Dubois to start slower.

Which is why I say that Dubois won the fight, rather than AJ lost it. He came and dictated the fight from the first bell up until the moment AJ was faceplanting the canvas.

Tremendous jab too. Was very surprised with how good his jab was.

My estimation of Dubois changed last night. His progress in the last two years is really quite phenomenal.

Did he change his coaching set up at all?

Not to my knowledge. He’s still with Don Charles.

Was written off as a hype job after the Joyce loss and a quitter after the Usyk one.

He has certainly rebuilt his reputation with his last 3 outings.
