Black Lives Matter Movement

I’d guess at it being 1000 times less at deaths per million here and I doubt I’m far off

Yeah it’s to be expected. The problems in the UK are really bad too, just not as many deaths due to police not carrying guns but the Met police have always been racist.

People can pandemic all the want but this is going to go down as a monumental moment in the modern day civil rights movement.

We are literally told to shut the fuck up and go back to the caribbean because we don’t agree with Zwarte Piet (Blackface) :man_facepalming:. The ignorance boggles my mind sometimes.

It’s just gonna be one of those situations where no matter what happens, there is always gonna be people who find something to criticise the movement for.

The white man isn’t ready for the modern day CRM.

“But what about white chicks!”

Hundreds of white children were raped and abused and still are because the police were scared to be racist

So thats kind of a shit joke

Edit: misinterpreted the joke. Because I’m dumb

I read is shit all the time as if it’s some sort of stonewall argument that the police can’t be racist lol.

I bet you’re one of those “all lives matter”

I cant be bothered to find the quote. Maybe I will later , but your post in the coronavirus thread telling aussie hes not taking the virus seriously and people are dying and etc etc and now you’re all meh…

This Will kill hundreds of people, thats the issue…protesting is fine do it, its needed but all this and risking lives is so stupid

Majority of people aren’t criticising the principle of the movement, they’re critical of the timing, as an adherent advocate of lockdown due to Coronavirus you should realise this.

No he said what about the white chick’s… when thats actually a big issue at the moment lol

How I feel about Aussie stance on the pandemic does not change what is at lol. People can talk about it all they want, me included, but this is a monumental moment in the civil rights movement and that matters more to a lot of people.

I chose not to attend today because I did not want to partake in anything that included such a large gathering. That’s because I’m consistent.

However, I understand why for some people this meant more than anything.

I do realise it, but I also realise that some people will always find a way to criticise the movement in itself.

I chose not to attend today because of my desire to adhere to government advice on large gatherings.

But for others, it means more for them to capitalise on the incredible momentum they’re building right now.

It’s a protest not a rave or a festival.

What’s this got to do with common excuses for defending blackface?

Fucking idiot throwing a bike into a horse.

I get the impression that a lot of people are using this movement just to cause havoc for no reason.

He probably has no idea what white chicks is lol. But I bet he felt really proud of himself for that little retort.

Hey dude, I misinterpreted your post and I shall edit for future reference …I didnt see the quote marks

Never heard of that argument presented, and that’s awful

It’s a strange time. I do think that ppl being cooped up for months has contributed to the disrest amongst ppl. You would think the Tamir Rice thing would have sparked more outrage than this but it’s a bit of the straw breaking the camels back. Even with many more contributing factors as to why a the black commuity are treated unfairly stuff like this and a little 12 year old boy playing the park but being gunned down by these cunts is absolutely sickening and dispicable. Police are a massive problem and something needs to be done. Weeks of constant looting and violence should open some eyes. I just hate to see small business owners, who are struggling with the ruling class just like the rest of us, punished for it.

Indeed. Defacing the Cenotaph and chucking things at horses is not really the way to go if you want people to take the movement seriously, so I can only assume they don’t really care about the movement if they’re happy for it to lose credibility so quickly.

The movement isn’t going to lose credibility in the eyes of anybody who seriously wants to tackle racism. If it does, it’s because you (not you specifically) were looking for a reason to discredit them.

All those quick to point out the behaviour of some of the protestors would do well to look at the videos of some of the violence of the police. There’s plenty of videos of unnecessary police force being used against protestors.

As per usual, there will always be a few people who behave unreasonably in situations like this but there should be enough common sense for people to see the vast majority of people don’t choose to act unreasonably (unless provoked).

It’s not one or the other. Both sets of people can be wrong.

I know the majority of protestors most likely have good intentions. But unfortunately peaceful protesting doesn’t go viral half as quickly as videos showing a bike being thrown at a horse or people defacing a monument that mourns dead soldiers.

I completely understand why this movement is important, but I feel that a minority of the protesters will hinder it with their behaviour. I’ve already seen tweets and Facebook status’s of people calling the protesters dickheads or whatnot.
