Greatest waste of talent England ever produced in my life time.
Platini was around at the same time and had the national team moulded for his strength.
England put Hoddle right side midfield and built around injury prone box to box Bryan Robson.

Agreed with this. Good podcast called Alive and Kicking that he did an interview with not too long ago to promote his book. Worth a listen.
A generally likable bloke if you ignore the mad thoughts that got him sacked from the England gig.

The situation with England’s CBs is mental at this point. Maguire has completely imploded while Stones can’t get off the bench for City. Meanwhile, Coady and Mings are both solid but low ceiling backup options, neither one can pass the ball whatsoever.
Southgate could pick White, Tomori, Dunk, and Webster and he would have a stronger group.

The 24-year-old was on Arsenal’s radar before last summer and that was partly down to the club’s push to use data in scouting. Under technical director Edu, the scouting department has been revamped and StatDNA, their in-house data and analytics company, plays a key role.
When Arsenal were looking to sign a centre-back, White topped a lot of the metrics manager Mikel Arteta wanted, with his passing ability and skill at dribbling the ball out from the back key.

There’s nothing wrong with using analytics to scout players just make sure you actually bother to watch them as well or that’s how you end up with Xhaka and Mustafi

It’s the only way to do it.
On a separate matter I’m struggling increasingly to see how lumbering Maguire gets preference over Ben not so Shite in the England set up. Really need ball playing centre backs if you want a good chance of winning a big one. Same with Ramsdale in goal. Have to be able to play out well from the back.

Pickford under more pressure for sure this time. Tbf he had a good tournament in the Euros and was probably in worse form going into it.
Also his passing is quite good.
Ramsdale is in a perfect position to challenge in the next few months.
Had a few mistakes lately and needs to redouble his efforts if he really wants to put the pressure on.
