Benjamin White (4)

Pair of vile cunts.

Was pretty ordinary with Watford’s 2nd goal today.

Really do like the bloke though and has had a very successful first season at us thus far.

That’s why you don’t trust Brighton fans either.

Yeah, it’s weird one.

Most of the time it’s like ā€œyeah fuck you guys, it’s just sour grapes we signed your playerā€ but otoh one podcast had a Brighton blogger on who obviously watched way more of White than I did, so maybe I’m the asshole for not taking their analysis on board.

The weird thing is the talk this summer was all about his passing, which is good but his defensive work has been top notch for me. He’s more than just a ā€œmodern centerbackā€ for me.

This is where sometimes being a neutral from the outset helps. There’s also the fact of what a Brighton fan wants from his/her CBs and what a top 6 fan wants from his/hers.Whenever I saw Brighton last season, it wasn’t Webster, Dunk or Duffy that shined through, it was Ben.
The way he carried himself in that pitch, the calmness in his play and drive to progress the ball was eye-catching for me. His awareness and ability to read situations was also there.
I remember stating it in the summer and getting some flack about it, but Ben was certainly someone who Pep would have an eye on and would probably end up at City if we didn’t skip the queue and got him before he blew up.

Sounds like a firm you hire after picking up a DUI in college.

Wasn’t the goal scored down Gabriel’s side?

White was the last defender was competing against Sissoko, but yes it was down the left hand side of the defence.

Short of blaming the entire structure and wondering why Xhaka is in between Gabriel and White, it should be a 100% preventable goal by White. He just gets it wrong.

Poor defending on the second goal but he’s been solid more often than not. I think he’s afforded a screw up.

I’d say he’s been excellent for 80% of his games with Arsenal; a lot better than ā€œsolidā€.

Sure, I mean solid in the same way a wall is solid as in he’s been a wall at the back.

Yeah, I don’t disagree the challenge itself is poor. The point I was getting at was that Gabriel was probably to blame as well for allowing Sissoko to get into that position, which you basically touched on anyway.

I love how the backline sits together.

That was a brilliant tackle on Maddison in the box yesterday.

I would have loved to see that Rambo-esque heel flick he tried find a corner.

He still has some maturing to do as a defender but I really couldn’t be happier with how this purchase has worked out so far.

In a just world, he’d begin getting some starts for England and a chance to stake a claim ahead of the World Cup. Unfortunately we’re in Southgate’s world…

Got that job just a little to early and it derailed his potential as a top coach.
Obviously the way he left destroyed him but he was fresh and positive coach in the making.
