Actually that’s wrong. Ole was a super sub, performed great coming off the bench. I can’t remember Park making too much impact off the bench. He was a brilliant squad player for Uhited, played on top level against top teams when needed, in the games he was starting.

I have the same (apparently extremely false) memory. Mandela Effect!
Park was a useful cog for them and was basically a world class cardiovascular system in a jersey. I was never impressed with him as anything other than a runner. I do have a tendency to undervalue players who just run and overvalue the luxury players. Probably because when I played I had zero skill on the ball and was only useful as a runner!
I still can’t get over that United team we lost a cup quarter final against in 2011, from memory they legit started 7 defenders.

I’ve been trying to track down the lineups from this game as I can’t quite remember the year but remember it was a cup game and I seem to remember them playing with Rafael and Fabio on the wings and still doing us in.
EDIT: Just seen @Joshua posted the lineups. Had a feeling John OShea played in the midfield as well in that game.

That season fucking blew, we had a rubbish end to the season. Won like 2 games in the last 10.
Wheels completely came off once we exit the CL.
Had a nice false down being 1st in December (I think) but that lasted a VERY short time.
Edit: That was the fucking Birmingham League Cup final season too, fuck me like. What a load of crap.

That’s what happens when you pass judgment on players you don’t watch.
He’s an easy target. He’s English, expensive and played for a lower table club.
I never agreed with the fee but the players quality was not deniable to people who watch him.

Neville and Carragher (especially Neville) single-handedly ruined White’s reputation in his first game.

tbf there were quite a few Brighton fans talking shit about him online, saying Arsenal got rolled and bought the wrong CB, throw in the Saliba angle, the fee (at the time none of us knew the club was prepared to go balls to the wall in terms of spend) and it’s not a great mix.
