Im thinking and hope is a solid dependable defence leaves Arteta trusting in building a more proactive midfield if this happens.
Xhaka pedestrian style of play is hopefully now being replaced with a Odegaard or Maddison etc type of player.
Whether this happens time will tell. Not as against it as I was when it first broke.
That amount of money makes me cringe, but I shouldn’t care. It’s not my money after all.
John Stones was signed by Man City for £47.5m back in 2016. Nathan Ake was sold for £40m. AWB was priced at £50m.
The other interesting thing about this is that both Gabriel and Ben White are both 23, and only a few months apart in their birthdays. This could become our CB partnership for the next 10 years. I was impressed with Gabriel last season and think he will be even stronger next season.
I still think Saliba has a future with us, but does mean we would likely then sell Holding or Chambers.
I think we can raise money through player sales and the rumour was also that Brighton were interested in some of our players.
I do however hope, that we still go for Bissouma…really want him at Arsenal next season.
Personally I don’t want anymore double pivots with no goals in it.
Need this position filled with a goal scorer and creator.
Goals need too becoming from all over the park.
I agree, with both White and Gabriel being young, they could be a very good CB partnership.
So with Luiz going we will have saved a lot in wages and if we can sell Holding, Mari and Mavro, it should go some way to paying for White.
It means we would still have decent cover with Saliba, who I would keep as he’s already here and Chambers, who’s a versatile and reliable defender.
I’ve got no problem with Bissouma, if we sell Xhaka and Elneny but, like @Stroller says, we need quality attacking midfielders because we lack players that can score, and they don’t come cheap.
41 million
40mil plus 10m add-on if we make Champions League.
So 40m :wenger2:
Brighton better not bottle this one up, put a fuck off price tag on him and make us stop being stupid for 5 minutes.
Brighton are nuts to turn down £40m for White.
We will sign him, alienate him from the team, loan him back to them for 2 seasons and then sell him to them for £15 anyway, it’s’ a great deal.
That’s known as “doing a Saliba.”
I can see it catching on.
Help a brother out, what is a padj?
The p-value adjusted ( padj ) column contains the p-values, adjusted for multiple testing with the Benjamini-Hochberg procedure (see the standard R function p. … Example : A FDR adjusted p-value (or q-value) of 0.05 implies that 5% of significant tests will result in false positives.
I don’t understand it either
Fucken twitter nerds.
Never thought I’d live to see the day when a Brighton defender would be a key transfer target and that he’s valued at more than twice the price you could get for one of our centre backs.
Think it’s fair to say we’re in a bit of a state and every other club sees the word mug when they see us coming.
