Benjamin White (4)

Odegaard, White, Partey and Rice were all poor today imo.

Odegaard’s performance to me sets the team’s whole tone. With Jesus out of the team, he’s the one setting the press up and he’s usually the person that calms the team in possession.

I agree, and he didn’t have a great match after that bad challenge on him

Glad he is finally able to rest and heal

I don’t think I have heard him speak before :joy:

Why does he seem 19 in that interview?

I wonder if he’s gonna consider being reintegrated back into the NT now.

if Tuchel plays 3 at the back, White should be considered because he could play both CB and RB.
When Southgate played 3 at the back and moved Walker as CB, it looked weird.

I think its likely that White’s fallout with the Southgate staff was overblown and he values his summers off. I could be wrong but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him continue to turn down callups.

Has White ever come out and said exactly why he doesn’t want to play for England? Got anything to do with his football family, perhaps?

I predict under Tuchel, White will not only come back but will start playing more.

Top performance from him. That assist for the opener was sumptuous.
It’s incredible how effortlessly he can move to CB.

didn’t know White was capable of playing balls like that into Saka.

The chemistry on the RCB/RB side with him can be brilliant at times.

Tbf they have had good chemistry for a long time. White is very good at playing good forward passes and long passes to switch the play. He doesn’t get enough credit as a player IMO.

I think this is why Arteta put Partey there (out of necessity of course). Saka needs a right back that can facilitate his attacking play and when Ben White is out or shifted to the center it’s Partey who is best equipped to fill in.

Lads, am I crazy for thinking White didn’t do much wrong here?

Could he have done more to stop Neto? Sure. But I felt he did well not to allow Neto to get past him or give him the opportunity to look up before crossing.
Felt to me like a desperate cross from Neto in the end that should have never made its way to Gusto.

Sometimes you just have to credit excellent play. Neto did brilliantly there.

Yeah White did his job there.

No. You can do everything right and not stop a quality player from doing something excellent.

It was pretty high level stuff from Neto tbh. White didn’t bite too hard on anything and didn’t dive in either. Pretty difficult to stop the cross that Neto ended up pulling off.
