I fear that may be us if we spend 60+m on this guy. If it works we may end up with 30+ goal a season player but if it doesn’t we may end up with Slovenian Sanogo that can’t trap a ball.

I thought of Hoijlund too, and I think he has actually shown more raw ability and talent prior to his move than Sesko does now.

For a big fee Sesko is just a massive gamble.

Rethinking it now, I’d actually rather have Cunha than him. Definitely more proven, offers much more allround ability and is actually the better goalscorer atm too.

Think with Holjund a clue was in the goals he was scoring, mostly break aways. Also wasn’t necessarily convinced by the technical ability

I tthink Sesko may be a better prospect though

Holjund probably joined the PL 2-3 years too early and obviously signed for the wrong club

Ideal scenario for me is we spend a reasonable fee on a promising understudy to Havertz and develop them.
Then go big on someone established who can play out wide. Striker market is fucking rough because there are plenty of promising strikers but almost all of them are very raw.
Sesko, Ferguson, Hojlund, Omorodion, Duran, etc.

(Before someone brings up Gyokeres, judging from what Ornstein has said about him before, I think he’s already decided his next destination and it ain’t here)

If it’s an understudy tip then we aren’t winning the league in tihs iteration

They need to displace what we have

Like you thought we stood a chance in the first place. :trossard:

If we sign the right players then perhaps but understudy is just blah

I don’t mind Havertz personally. He’s in bad form at the moment but he’s still getting goals and I think he can recapture his form from late last season and early this season.
I don’t think he’ll ever hit Haaland numbers but I’m okay with that.

I want a top player to play out wide instead. Go proper big on that and bring a star player that can damage teams from the left, like Saka does from the right.

He isn’t the answer and I don’t think we should be running it back with him as 1st choice, to say he won’t get Haaland numbers is an understement. He won’t get top level striker numbers in general.

There aren’t really any top wide players available, all have something to prove I think there’s a dearth of top level wide players also perhaps even more so especially in terms of what I’d like in the position.

Try your luck with Leao, Barcola, Rodrygo and Williams.
Musiala and Wirtz can play there too.
Players who can actually create stuff on their own and be the difference maker like Saka is.

Market for player that can play out is significantly better than strikers.
Beyond Gyokeres, what’s out there? Rory Delap’s son?

I agree, if I had the option of signing January or Gyokeres in the summer, I’d take the latter

Gyokeres now, wirtz in the summer. What’s the issue…drop the bag.

FIFY

Leao has ability but I don’t think he’s bankable especially in the PL

Rodrygo is interesting as is Williams, not sure how attainable the former is though. Told you about Musiala and Wirtz for that position, I’m not big on it

If it isn’t Gyokeres then obviously has to be someone else but I hope they hit on it because if not it won’t be enough especially with the way in which we play.

Dunno, something’s off with us and Gyokeres.

Ornstein has always said similar stuff regarding this.
Honestly, I think one of Barca or Man Utd have already tapped him up ahead of the summer.

Does seem that way but an obvious mistake imo.

He’s the best value for money target. Haaland wasn’t city style either but hey who wants a treble anyway…

Could be true but then again can’t really prioritise a team that isn’t doing the same for you

If that is indeed the case on this end

@Starboy: if he isn’t our style then who the hell is lol

Someone who doesn’t like goals

^^ Sesko

Twice now I’ve been misquoted today, can’t believe it…thought this place was moderated.
