Must admit that with all the numbers being thrown about it really does feel like Gyökeres is the option that feels the most appealing right now. The upside potential is crazy but the financial risk is not any more taxing when you consider all of the other potential targets across the board.
I do think it is easy in hindsight to think we should have gone for Isak and signed him ahead of Newcastle, but people forget they took a punt on him. At the time his stats weren’t great and he had a release clause of around £70m. I think Newcastle got him for around £60m but it was still a huge risk at the time.
I agree with you in respect of Vlahovic. I could get behind a short term loan but otherwise not a fan. I would support a move for Gyorkeres but I question why we didn’t move for him in the summer, which makes me think we are not keen on the player or have reservations that he can replicate his goal scoring form in the PL. Sesko for me, out of those four options, is the one to go for. Given his age he potentially has a higher ceiling. He is also massive, so I think he will trouble a lot of defences and gives us a heading goal threat. Can also hit them from distance so he can score a range of goals.
Of course it is easy FOR US. we are not football professionals… it isn’t our job to evaluate as a primary job function… or have massive teams of scouts, football experts, video and other live scouting data… etc.
It is the job of Arteta and the massive infrastructure behind him to do so. I think it is reasonable to question that after this time, how we went into this year clearly weak in this key area. We can all project who WE want, but ultimately we know a tiny fraction of what they know (or should)… it is much harder to reliably add in winter… we knew that… it may cost us chance at title this year (probably does).
The discourse triggered a memory. What season was it that Wenger only had 3 centre backs in the squad at the start of the season? Or did I dream it?
I seem to recall the Football Manager game that season; day 1 was usually buying the defensive midfielder we’d needed for 10 seasons, but that season I had to find funds for a centre-back too.

Honestly, I’d rather this over Cunha, even though Cunha would’ve provided a more immediate impact.
Get the understudy striker you want now, save the powder for a high profile forward to play wide in the summer.
We can probably manage till March with Nwaneri, Sterling, Havertz, Sesko, Trossard and Martinelli. Then hopefully Saka comes back fine.
Looks like this is spreading.

Ornstein next?
Are we really that broke we had to go for a loan again??
Again, we didn’t spent much this summer, are we really that tight atm we can’t pull off one decent deal?
Leipzig going for the CL spot. Would need an unreasonable amount of money to get him. Can’t see this happening this window tbh.
I think the loan thing is straight up bullshit
It’s about as derisory and stupid as it gets
They’re Spurs’ somewhat successful cousin
Watch this dude score a hat-trick today and ruin any chance he had of moving this window.
1 down, 2 to go.
GIVE THEM THE MONEY!!
Should’ve got him in the summer. No chance we gonna get him mid season when Leipzig are aiming for a CL spot.
We can get him if the bid aligns with their valuation of the player. Going to be some added premiums in this window.
Sadly we wouldn’t be crossing him the ball in that fashion
Take 5 minutes off would you
