Pacers run out of gas and the Lakers win the In-Season Tournament.
Thought on the in season tournament?
I think its a decent early season surface level gimmick, early group stages didnât keep my attention. knockouts did, especially the neutral ground knockouts
They need to increase the prize money big time. Weâll see what the view figures look like but it didnât seem like there was alot of buzz generally
It means nothing be honest.
Have the fakers play against Nuggets in a 7 games series and see how they will do
Meant there was basketball where the players actually cared as money was on the line. Shame about the final line up tbh.
Could they have two in-season tournaments within the season?
It was okay, nothing special. Atmosphere was lacking until the finals. While players did play hard I donât think most gave a damn about being knocked out.
Group stages need massive rework. Lakers and Suns (Group A West) got a .318, .286, .286 win teams (*) in their groups. While in Group B (Pelicans, Rockets, Mavericks, Nuggets, Clippers) everyone was over 500. Problem here is âmaking games matter moreâ means nothing if youâre tanking. Turning those games into default wins almost.
What they did with the courts was an interesting attempt but I think it looked more goofy than professional.
Also the presentation and broadcast gotta be better. That final was awful to listen to. LeBron is a legend and Lakers are a big market but donât talk about them ALL THE TIME. Pacers beat the Celtics and Bucks and you wouldnât even know.
I would decouple the tournament from regular season games and ramp up the prize money. If you want regular season games to matter it needs to be harder.
*Obviously their record was different (or worse lol) when the tournament began
Actually like it, all games bar the final contribute to the regular season records, so absolutely no problem with the idea.
Tbh it exceeded my expectations.
Trae Young gets fouled asks where the call was. Then gets ejected and so does the Hawks coach.
NBA refs on some bull this season.
In his defense this one really isnât his fault
Ja Morant first game back and hits the game winner to win the game for Memphis.
Nice.
awesome to have him back
Steph
Curry.*
*and a bit of Celtics imploding.
Geez thatâs a horrible loss by the Suns.
Lakers really gave it their all for the in-season tournament then defaulted back to losing
I suppose itâll still mean they win more than 28 other franchises this season.
Shhhhh
