Aston Villa

Well, which way is the lion supposed to be facing? Seems like they don’t know if they’re coming or going.

Presumably decided the last one looked a bit too Chelsea on second thoughts?!

Don’t know what this new modern obssession is with circular looking badges, so many look the same. The latest is a better change for sure.

MLS is the chief offender here. The logos are all so safe. I was really sad to see the Revs change their logo which iirc was an original.

I’m still mad about the Crew logo. Their original logo was so unique and unlike some of the other mid 90s logos (like our badge for example) it’s so odd that it’s actually great!

That Columbus Crew logo is hideous. Yuck

Bring it back.

It’s incredible. It’s so weird. It’s honestly a shame they don’t use it as even an alternate badge.

Club bosses have explained how they worked to defuse a “ticking bomb” by raising tens of millions from player sales before the end of June to avoid being punished with a points deduction this season.

In an extensive interview, Villa transfer chiefs Monchi and Damian Vidagany explain just how close the club came to breaching the 2023-24 limits with the crucial £42.3million sale of Douglas Luiz to Juventus signed off just hours before the deadline.

Oh yea big John works there, forgot that.

I wonder who here will remember.

You speak as if you’re not itching to remind us :joy:

So how’s Unai “we should have stuck with him” Emery doing this season?

Remove Duran who Emery doesn’t even fancy and things would look really spooky for them.

Great window by Monchi signing 2 left backs for 50m and then still somehow end up relying on Digne being a starter.
Astounding decision as well to stick with Cash who’s shit, and injury prone, meaning you have to move Konsa there, and use Diego Carlos at CB who they’ve been trying to offload all summer.

Jadon “new Neymar” Philogene is a Championship player. His agent scammed them into thinking Barca wanted him.

They chased Felix all summer long, and the little shithead decided to take a massive pay cut, be a benchwarmer and play Conference League with Chelsea than be a marquee signing for the mighty Villa.

Onana and Barkley are the only decent moves they made.

I’ve made some of these points before but this is just everything pieced up together.

I think Emery got the absolute most out of that team last season but I did warn that they will struggle like Newcastle did after they got in the CL.
I remember having an argument with @Trion about them having Championship players in that squad that will eventually be exposed.

They somehow lost Luiz due to FFP but their window after was really uninspiring and even strange for a team that just got back in the CL. The only starter they’ve ultimately signed was Onana, and that I’m not sure really strengthened them because they lost Luiz.
Their focus should have been on signing top quality to challenge their starters and those will then become squad players.

Had it not been for Duran they wouldn’t have beaten Bayern(Bayern beat themselves that day really), and they would have been hanging around just above the relegation zone with Man Utd.

I assume you’re aiming this at the media
