This guy is ruining my life! I need a portion of his earnings in compensation!
He can’t go home satisfied with his lot right now at Arsenal surely? The worrying thing for me is his will to believe he has the necessary skillset to move us forward. Literally everything we see before us is a stroke from his managerial brush and it’s not subtle at all.
I think he could get the sack this week. Three games in and it already feels like we’ve been playing a classic groggy season. It’s sickening.
All on level playing fields now.
Wenger has lost the right to walk away when he wants; he should now be like any other manager.
The big concern here is that there are no replacements; unless we just go fuck it, and bring in Henry.
I am an Arsenal Fan from Jamaica. Wenger have forgotten the type of players that created the Arsenal of great. Which of these presence players can be compare to Henry(forward), Overmar(Winger), Vieira(Central Midfield), Adams(Defense). These are the types of players that Arsenal needs. I am tired of the average players: Welbeck (Manu discard), Xhaka, Holding, etal. Need to get rid of the presence persons who are doing the scouting. Some players like Ozil are now declining and therefore Wenger needs to follow what Mourinho did, No more Rooney. If Wenger fail to make changes then the coach should be change.
Welcome to the forum.
100% correct. I’ve been saying this for a while, however if those players were around right now they’d all cost upwards of 100m. We can’t afford that, or we aren’t interested.
After missing 1950 postings… it is still “same old, same old”…
Words can no longer express how I feel about this man. Not my manager.
We used to be a joke, now we are irrelevant.
The players clearly don’t give a fuck about Wenger, just like most of the fans. I really don’t think Wenger has any influence on the players anymore. They play if they wish to, if things are going their way, else they just give up and stroll around the pitch, waiting for the final whistle. I didn’t see 1 player that really bothered and looked hurt at that result. The players are perhaps as fed up by Wenger’s incompetence as we are. Not working on the defence, not getting the signings we require, not planning a strategy based on the opposition, not playing the players in their right position, not starting with the best 11, not making the right substitutions. The list is endless, and I would fully expect the players to be as disillusioned as we are. That explains our abject surrender in so many games.
As for Wenger, he isn’t the problem. He clearly enjoys his job, immaterial of the results. Yes, he lacks ambition, is satisfied with mediocrity, isn’t too bothered by our repeated embarrassments but then if the board/owner still want to employ him, is that his problem? If you receive great bonuses and hikes at your work, doesn’t that encourage you to do more of the same. That’s pretty much what Wenger is doing. Yeah, the fans have protested and there have been marches and banners and planes and that is unpleasant but he is not answerable to the fans, no matter what we feel.
The man loves his job, the board/owner, love him, and that’s that.
The only way this situation changes is if the club gets hit where it hurts, which is match-day revenues. But we know that won’t happen because the majority of the ticket buying public will continue to go watch us play, no matter what shit is dished out. So why would anything change? As fans who genuinely care, we are at the mercy of the owner/board and they know it. Until that balance shifts in our favour, things will continue to be this way.
On the bright side, 1 embarrassing day is behind us already, just another 8 - 10 to go this season.
I read that in Jamaican accent. Welcome
It is only up to our board to decide now, as he will never walk away on his own.
Something maybe significantly different here than on past failings and that seems to be a loss of the dressing room.
Had many dissapointments in the last few seasons but usually Wenger has covered for them and been one of the reasons we never get any discontent. Seems with a lot of players being linked with transfers theres some real questioning going on.
Although I could never have seen the board firing him if this develops it will force their hand. It happens the world over. You can call players what you want but in its simple economics in the end. Lose one man or a squad. No manager can survive that and for all his survival fights with the board this one he wont win if there is a revolt.
Not what I want to see as a fan. It wont be comfortable seeing the clubs name dragged through the mud. Its were we are at though and if it might just need to be done. It will be ugly to view though.
It has the hallmarks of Brian Clough’s last few years at Nott Forrest, a once great manager who just won’t admit his time has come and past and is doing far more damage to his legacy. Now we won’t be relegated like Forrest but I could see us finishing well below 6th if this continues on, he had all summer to make a statement but clearly showed he’s not changing a thing. Half his team want to leave (Mustafi, Ox, Bellerin, Alexis, Ozil) and I’m sure one or two others are probably thinking off jumping off the ship before it sinks.
Wenger is his own worst enemy, I fully believe he went above most of the board to beg Stan to keep his job. To get a pay raise is even more insulting after his years of underachieving. I don’t see the board having the balls to fire him, unless under constant pressure from the fans, sadly we have to many still in love with Wenger and too many flip flops to ever make that happen. Another season outside the top 4, with no silverware, with all our top players walking away at the end of the season for free, might make him step aside but I doubt it.
Strap in going to be a season of many lows.
I don’t know about that. At this moment in time I’m willing to give Mikey, who sometimes sleeps in the Monument station underpass, a go!
Mikey said he wouldn’t come here while Kroenke was still the owner.
He has standards.
Mikey’s an idiot if he turns down 8 million a year with no requirement to actually do a good job.
That’s true.
But it’s due to his poor decision making that has meant that he now resides at Monument station.
Perhaps he could do a job share with Wenger, or be his assistant, because Bould doesn’t seem to serve any useful purpose.
For me it’s not even the players that are the problem. Mourinho won the EPL and then finished mid table with the same players, only to have Conte win the EPL again with almost all the same players of the previous two seasons.
It’s simply the manager who is passed expiration date and has been for a long ass time now. He always plays the same rubbish formations and never changes according to who his opponent is.
Other managers you can hear say: “we played x person to stop y person and we played more defensive because of x reason and y reason.” I swear I cannot recall Wenger saying this stuff, he simply has one plan and if it doesn’t work we are fecked.
And Lacazette on the bench, Giroud on the bend, instead of Welbeck?
His age is catching up and influencing is intelligence.
He brings Lacazette on, an out and out striker and makes him hug the left wing touchline. What manager does that ffs.
Trounced by Liverpool. I am just glad we aren’t in the Champions League anymore and don’t have the be trounced merciless again by the real big boys.
One big change in the last couple of weeks is the manner of the oppositions wins. First we had an ordinary Stoke team not really try their aggressive approach and Liverpool fell back rather than hustle us and just picked us off at will.
That tells me that teams see a lack of threat in our attack and the holes to be exploited. Leciester on day one may have set a blue print for others here.
