Wenger has an attacking philosophy. Not this club per se.
Dont think that was the question, i read it as going from now till the end of season hence the 2017 fa cup and not future fa cups…As an Arsenal fan i want to win every trophy or at least put up a proper showing…That most defininately will not happen under wenger.

Understood.
Its the difference of being a fan from London and a fan from out of the area.
No doubt.
I’m thinking what’s the difference? Probably about 6 million dollars a year not amortized.
Those things aren’t incongruous. Win the title and you’ll finish above Scum.
We will all first hand witness that winning the Europe League won’t be that easy for these chumps.
Will be good to put at rest that it’s somehow an unimportant competition filled with lesser teams. The way we have been trashed by Bayern and the likes shows us that we belong at EL level anyway.
I just don’t know how Wenger and his players can adjust their mentality, from playing in the CL to playing in the EL.
How we are going to attract top players without “participating” in the CL is another issue on top of that.
Last time Wenger was in the EL he was a couple of penalties away from winning it.
Believe :hipster:
Time for a revenge

The only top players we have really attracted anyways are Sanchez and Ozil, I personally don’t think scraping 4th and getting flogged consistently in the Round of 16 makes you that appealing anyways.
I think scraping 4th is probably fine because it’s not a huge gap to 1st in general, especially with the weak league we’ve had the last few years that’s let us be 2nd/3rd.
If you’re Higuain for example, and Arsene Wenger says hey I want to activate your release clause, we’ve finished 4th/3rd/2nd and we’re only a striker away from being a real force and you’re my number one, how about it? then I don’t think it’s hard to sell the dream. Something similar probably happened to Sanchez and Ozil too.
Unfortunately the time for that was probably last year. No idea what we’re looking at now if we’re 5th or 6th and maybe losing some great players.
When you say not a huge gap, I think the only time we have been within a single figure margin of the Champions in the past decade is 2007/2008 & 2013/2014.
I really doubt any player outside of the super elites looks at the table and sees a team in 3rd place, 15 points behind the winner and says “woah, what a crap team, who’d want to play for them”.
Done a table predictor and I have us finishing in 5th two behind Liverpool. Which means Liverpool’s double over us cost us top 4.
Agreed Len.
In the past I’ve been a relative optimist, thinking that this team Wenger was building might have a chance if a bunch of luck went our way. There is just no reason at all for optimism right now if Wenger stays. Its not just that I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, its that somebody dynamited the end of the tunnel and its obvious there is a bunch of rubble on the track.
The basic reality is this: Wenger built a team over the last 3-4 years that was supposed to combine his youth pet projects (Ramsey, Jack, Ox, Theo, etc) with some quality holdovers (Kos, Santi, etc) and a few elite additions (Ozil, Sanchez, Cech) and which in theory could have won the league. And that project has now clearly failed. The pet projects weren’t good enough, the holdovers are past 30 and declining, and the elite additions want out and will probably be declining soon as well (or already have in the case of Cech). Its done. Its over. The team now needs to be rebuilt. Wenger on a two year contract is suicide precisely because he won’t accept this failure. The club next year will be a worse version of the club this year - same old stale story, just with even worse results. That is what awaits us at the end of the tunnel.
They’ll probably think that it’s Arsenal under Arsene Wenger and no longer bother from there.
Wenger’s not going to sell any player the dream anymore of doing more than the annual struggle.
Agreed but I don’t think there is a danger of that happening. It’s not like some fickle fan or some WOB is going to make this decision. We are a huge club in terms of revenue and fan base and are one of the best run clubs financially. Also, Wenger is one of the best paid managers in the world. Put all that together and even if the board are offering 20% less salary to the new manager, we should be attracting some of the biggest names available. Of course, there are no guarantees that a big name will live up to his reputation (Juan de Ramos, Andre Villas Boas) but that’s the best you can hope for I guess.
