I hope so, that would be hilarious. I’m sure this fractured club will unite around the positivity of a 1 game winning streak
The whole thing is beyond embaressing now. Couldnt care less if he stays or goes. There’s only one other manager thats suitable which is Allegri. So Allegri or Wenger stays for me, which is the most logical decision regardless of the negatives of Wenger.
The last thing we want is some clueless manager coming in just because ‘he isnt Wenger’. Think about it.
The one manager who isnt suitable is Wenger. Fuck this Allegri or nothing shit.
NO MORE ARSENE AROUND HERE.
If I offered you two more years of Wenger, but in return you had:-
a) 2017 Fa Cup winners, beating Chelsea in the final (somehow) and stopping their double
b) win over Tottenham in the last ever North London Derby to be held at their ground
c) no form whatsoever in the final league matches, limping home in 6th place
Who would take it?
I appreciate different people place different importance on both those points, but hell I’d take it. Desperation stakes. Also this is on the proviso that it’s purely 50/50 on whether he goes or stays so you’re not allowed to just say “well he’s staying anyway so”
Id take the fa cup and beating the scum, the league is a non event… Play some of the younger players in the league.Give them some experiance.
#Wengerout
A cup win against a powerful Chelsea would be very memorable but winning the last NLD would soon fade. If they’d won the last one at Highbury I don’t think many would care today. Only Spurs fans would mention it at times when we were 10 points ahead of them.
Wenger out sooner rather than later for me. We’re saying the same shit about his golden boys like Theo and Ramsey we were saying years ago and we’ll be saying it in 2019 too. This club needs the electric paddles to the nipples and under Wenger we’re going to get minimal changes.
What do you mean only one other manager that’s suitable ? I know he would be unlikely to come to the EPL but hypothetically speaking would you take Wenger over Simeone ?
I think Simeone would be good initially for a season or two. Would get us organised and well drilled. But he isnt without his flaws either. His style completely contradicts our attacking philosophy. The change may be too big a job and I just dont see a long game with him.
When we will be back in contention for the top 4 after the next 3 games.
I’m more than content with a manager that contradicts our attacking style, agree it would take some time and patience though.
No deals for me. We’re getting whatever we’re getting under Wenger for the next two months and no matter what that entails i don’t want him here for any longer.
Nothing changes until he goes.
The problem in recent seasons has been that we aren’t good enough to win the PL or CL, but this season he has actually started to drag us down.
We have gone from a team going nowhere to a team going backward.
If he signs a new contract, even fourth place will be well out of his reach because all the other top clubs, and I include Everton in this, are not only catching us up, they are overtaking us.
It wasn’t long ago that I was told on this forum clubs like spurs, Liverpool, Man U wouldn’t finish above us, when I suggested we would drop out of the top four, and that’s what’s happened.
But when we start next season, these clubs are going to strengthen significantly and their new managers will have another seasons experience in the PL, and we won’t be able to keep up.
I’m not saying we should just go and get anyone, but a club of our stature should be able to attract and afford most managers, and if we don’t get someone new, then we will lose the best players that are here and we will find it very difficult to attract any more.
I’m more interested in what these big changes are that the media and Gazidis have been suggesting will come after this season. Wenger’s management has been a bigger issue than his coaching, so it’ll be interesting to see if we’re finally going to move towards a more European approach and leave the coach to coach.
I think our current set up would overwhelm another coach that is not used to dealing with the responsibility Wenger has at this club, very few if any out there that would have experienced it.
Simeone adapts to what is around him, contrary to popular belief he can play more than one way.
Unlike Wenger…
No that’s not what I mean. Although the petty and childish AKB v WOB divide you love to perpetuate is part of the problem with this fanbase.
Been feeling for a long time that Arsenal’s fanbase epitomises everything wrong with modern football fans of top clubs. The over entitlement, the social media and the attitude of large sections of the support. I think the support has gotten to big for it’s own good. I think issues transcend Wenger
The fans fault then?
I didn’t say it was do with any divide between the supporters, I said I thought we would drop out of the top four and finish behind spurs and probably Man U, and that is looking quite likely.
You might have been one of those who called me out for saying it, but now it’s looking likely and you were wrong, you are calling me childish.
I’m sure you’ll agree, that’s slightly hypocritical.
Don’t dish it out if you don’t like getting it back.
As for our supporters being over entitled, that’s nonsense.
All any supporter wants to see for their money, is the club doing the best for them with the resources available, and most feel we aren’t doing that.
You could understand fans wanting to give Wenger another chance if they could see light at the end of the tunnel. But after watching yesterday’s performance i’d say if he stays the best we can hope for is more of the same.
Think some of those players on the pitch yesterday had yheir minds elsewhere yesterday. We also have a few players that are just not good enough.
For ANYBODY who ONLY cares about the FA Cup and finishing above Spuds… he is not an Arsenal fan.
As a big club that many of us claimed, we should be aiming the league title, and a good run in the CL.
Give a 2-year extension to a person that is not capable and just get us something secondary, totally not worth it.
If we need to rebuild, do it NOW.
